Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Day 45

5 / 2 / 205 / 3 / 20

Twitch Collection | Youtube Playlist | ACNH Overview

I spent more time in a friend’s town and finally found a Walking Stick. And of course once I caught one, I was seeing tons spawning… Regardless, I’m glad with this done and the Mahi-Mahi the other day, I finally have defeated my Southern Hemisphere nemeses XP

I also spent some time picking weeds so I could get the final Weeds-related Nook Miles thing completed. It took about 300, but thankfully there were plenty.

Regardless, I eventually headed back and Isabelle let me know nothing was happening :( And despite my continued hopes, still no Redd. Thanks to more star wishes, I decided to start with combing my beach and I finally found another large fragment!! Sadly, it was the only one.

There was also a DIY Recipe in a Bottle from Octavian– a Barrel. As for my special Nature Day Nook Miles task, today was to make a wreath… which I originally thought from the image was another flower crown so I felt stupid wasting flowers on that, but at least I made something new for catalog sake. To make things worse, I then worked on the wreath only for it to not tick over properly as apparently crafting while in someone else’s town didn’t count for it… So I finally managed to make one in my own town and it completed it properly. I didn’t need either wreath for my catalog as I had been gifted them a long time ago, but at least I got the crafted check marks now.

Thanks to friends, I managed to get a few items I’ve been really wanting and used them to spruce up a few areas.

The mushrooms look a lot prettier at night, but still nice during the day too.

And while I didn’t get more large Star Fragments, I did get plenty of small ones whch let me make a few other lights. And also remind me of my biggest issue with terraforming: Having to essentially tear things down to place and/or modify certain things. It’s exhausting and so stressful as I always worry I won’t be able to get it back to how it was.

While it clearly worked out, it didn’t make it less disheartening.

After doing some modifying, I and a couple other of Renae’s moderators went over to her second town to help test out some fun minigame things.

After some testing, I headed back to finally have my K.K. Slider concert. No villagers ended up being there all day which was surprising, but I got a new song at least.

I also got a pink lantern from another friend for the campsite.

That night, we ended up heading back to Renae’s second town to wish on some stars and Celeste was there too. I ended up getting the Sci-fi wall.

Finally, I ended up playing around with my two Silos. I’ve been wanting to do something with one for a while and the idea of towers seemed really appealing, but I just can’t find a good place for them. And while this kind of worked, I’d miss my cherry blossom trees (You may also notice a bigger ledge from the museum… That’s where Stonehenge will go if I ever manage to get it).

I really need to switch those flowers to pink ones though :/

Going around my island, I eventually considered this spot… But I’ll definitely need to test it out a bit more. I think it could work though.

At the moment, I think my biggest priorities will be the last two mushroom items I want, but most importantly: I need more of Gulliver’s items for the museum area as it just looks plain and I really want to work it up. Unfortunately, all I can do is wait and hope :(

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Day 44 – May Day Event!

5 / 1 / 205 / 2 / 20

Twitch Collection | Youtube Playlist | ACNH Overview

So, before we get to Isabelle and May Day, while this is technically before rollover, it wouldn’t be possible until May 1st so I’m including it today!

I took a stop to a Southern Hemisphere island to get my final fish: the Blowfish!

With it in hand, I quickly headed home to donate it to Blathers. Now I just have Bugs and Art left…

I loved seeing how the museum is all built up. I can’t wait to have the other sections filled out.

The clock then slowly ticked over and I have to admit, I kind of agree with Isabelle’s assessment here.

Now that any of it has been particularly relaxing… Regardless, of course that meant after Isabelle’s announcements (and letting us know it is indeed May Day), we had a very special letter:

New gold tool recipe!!

I also got a really lovely letter from Teddy and a new item from Mom– her Knapsack!:

It wasn’t one of the super priority ones, but it’s at least one I like so I’m happy about that.

I also had gotten another Phone case to finally have some kind of pattern actually on my Nook phone.

With all that done, it was time for fossil hunting! I also remembered about the Stars on the beach so I decided to run along my beach as well. Today’s Bottled recipe was from Timbra– a Wooden Chair.

Leif also ended up being here today. My Nature Day task ended up be to plant 3 bushes which I’m guessing may be due to Leif’s presence. I hope they’ll look nice where I decided to put them. I need to get more Pink Camellia bushes :/ I thought I had more, but apparently I’ve out and the Hydrangeas don’t look as nice as they did in New Leaf. Thankfully, Filia sent some over T~T

While I managed to find all my fossils pretty quickly (three being in super close proximity to one another), the Star Fragments were actually kind of lacking which made me really sad. I also put the fake Informative statue up here as I liked the color, but I’m kind of rethinking it knowing they are all kind of haunted.

Regardless, with the chores done, it was finally May Day time! I had noticed the Nook Miles letter mentioned new Seasonal items for Nook Miles, but I didn’t see anything available… Maybe after I do the May Day tour.

And thus, it was off to the airport!

I’ll admit, that made me nervous at first, but in the end, this was actually really fun. I loved the puzzle-nature of it and the only thing I was sad about was that I had messed up when switching tools and it cost my a fruit… but I only lost out on some Bell Vouches so it’s fine. I definitely hope to do more though.

It was really nice meeting Rover. It also sounded like we may hopefully see him again sometime soon. Fingers crossed!

And thus, it was back to Pink Sea.

I, of course, stopped by my house first to pick up my belongings from the mail. I love the item we get from him so much. I really want to find somewhere nice for it.

I then went off to see Tom Nook to let him know I took the tour. This was a really sweet conversation. And Tom Nook calling us “Partner” is such a surprise considering what he’s gone through T~T

I had expected to be able to get more tickets to go more, but… it was just the one. What really gets me is I could’ve reset the maze and fixed my mistake where I used one fruit more than I wanted instead of the axe I crafted and gotten everything. But I left it because I was like “I can make up for it on the next one” thinking I could get a ticket for one, but now I just feel kind of like a failure. It doesn’t matter if I knew what was wrong when I failed to execute it properly.

And it was then I realized the “Seasonal items” was for the Nook Shopping thing– not Nook Miles. There was a Mother’s Day mug for sale. I bought two.

The only thing I can catch right now that I still have left is the Scorpion which wouldn’t be out for about 12 hours at the time of me doing all this. I’ll probably look around then or maybe even try doing one of those island set-up things, catch one, and run for my life. I’ll also probably poke in to check for recipes and for when the shops open.

The only other thing I could try for is the Walking Stick, but only in Southern Hemisphere islands and I haven’t seen any confirmation they show up when the gate is open. I don’t believe they’ve ever been “offline only” bugs, but I just have not managed to see them even when looking for them exclusively. As it is, I swear tree spawns are just… way down in this game, especially when online, but maybe I’m just crazy.

In the meantime, Mika and I headed over to Ruu’s for a small catalog party and Meteor shower! She also had both Saharah AND Celeste so it was pretty eventful.

After that, I stopped by Filia’s town for some Beetle training. I’ve always struggled with them a lot, but at least New Leaf let me get in a lot of practice with the island. The timing is slightly different this time around though so I really need the practice or I’ll never manage to get them. I suppose part of it is also just out of habit– offhand, I want to say July will be really busy for me, because, well, it used to be. But isn’t now. For reasons not related to the quarantine. I don’t really want to talk about it and just thinking about it makes me really sad, but regardless, July is a rough month for me either way and the less I have to worry about, the better.

He also had shooting stars so I made sure to make some wishes too.

Finally, evening hit and thus, it was Scorpion time. I had no luck finding one around my island (which may have been for the best), so it was time for drastic measures– heading for a Nook Miles island and setting it up to force a spawn. At first, I was worried it wouldn’t work out due to the river and it not being completely flat, but I think it actually worked out better as they weren’t spawning at a ridiculous speed that I couldn’t keep up with and in the end, the mission was successful:

With that done, the only thing to do is hope Gulliver shows up more and gives me the items I need… Or try to visit the Southern Hemisphere in hopes for Mushroom things… Otherwise, it’s just going to be a lot of waiting. Just like waiting for Phil, Alfonso, and Margie to want to move.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Day 43

4 / 30 / 205 / 6 / 20

Twitch Collection | Youtube Playlist | ACNH Overview

Isabelle didn’t announce any news beyond April nearly ending, but I ran into Saharah while on my way to the museum to get fossils assessed and also donate everything I caught in a friend’s town.

Her allotment today:
Mysterious wallpaper: Strawberry-chocolate wall
Mysterious flooring: Gravel flooring
Small rug: Simple small brown mat
Medium rug: Brown wooden-deck rug
Large rug: Retro dotted rug

I ended up getting Ivy Wall and Dark Chocolates flooring as my bonus Wallpaper and Flooring respectively. Only the Ivy Wall was new our of everything though :(

I then went along the beach to check for a recipe and eventually found one in a Bottle from Cousteau this morning: Dark Rose Wreath.

My Nook Miles+ thing for today was to plant 3 Windflowers. I’m both nervous and excited for May Day tomorrow.

With pretty much everything I could do for now “finished”, I ended up working on this little sitting area a bit:

I think it looks a bit better now. I’d maybe consider some fences, but I don’t think any can fit nicely and I don’t really want to modify it at all.

Teddy taught me a new reaction today– Encouraging.

And this kind of ties into my frustration of the moment in the game– Reactions being locked to personality types. Am I necessarily surprised? No. Disappointed though? Absolutely.

With the ability to get recipes from your friends and even find DIY Recipes in bottles along the beach, while it may not be as high a chance as you like (and heck, even if you did have all the personality types in your town, there is no guarantee– Alfonso and Phil easily craft the least), I was really hoping that meant they wouldn’t be doing something like this again as it was so frustrating with Public Works.

I haven’t gotten a single Cranky Villager. I don’t want to temporary move one in just to move them out. That feels really mean. Phil and Alfonso are my only Smugs and I’m not going to keep them longer if they want to move on either. And considering one reaction is locked to “high friendship”, even if I got the others, who knows if I’d manage to get that one too.

Supposedly, you can learn 1 new Reaction a Day, but I absolutely haven’t been learning them that often… I need Pleased and Daydreaming* still from Sweet (previously normal) types, Sleepy and Mischief* from Peppy though I don’t care much for that last one, all the snooty ones (Intense, Thought, Sighing, Amazed, Love*), Disagree and Confident* from “Big Sister”, Pride* from Lazy, Flourish* from Jock, obviously all the Cranky ones (Agreement, Worry, Sheepish-ness, Bewilderment, Inspiration*), and all the Smug ones as well (Smirking, Resignation, Heartbreak, Dozing, Showmanship*).

* High friendship reaction.

Of the ones I don’t have, I most want Daydreaming, Curiousity, Thought, Sighing, Amazing, Love, and Flourish which thankfully I will be able to get regardless. I’d also like Inspiration (which just will not be happening), Agreement (also not happening), Showmanship (unlikely before Phil leaves), and maybe Dozing (could maybe happen before he leaves but not likely), but I’m not getting my hopes up.

I’d like to hope they can bring Dr. Shrunk back and he can teach you an emotion again for food or bells or something that you’re still missing if you weren’t able to get them for free. It’d be nice anyway :/ Otherwise, this may be the first time I don’t earn all the reactions and that makes me super sad.

Moving passed my frustrations, Fae let me visit her town to wish on Shooting Stars to help build my Star Fragments back up. Her town is so pretty. Kymera ended up hanging out too.

This just makes me want to get more Nova Lights and Star Clocks even more… Not to mention all the Starry Garlands I want to make T~T

Also I am totally wearing a Celeste-inspired outfit for future Star Gazing… I just need that Star Pochette and to decide what shoes.

I then spent some time working on the cafe to make some adjustments.

I definitely still want a few other instruments (or at the least, different colors), but otherwise, unless we get a nicer fence down the line, I think this area is “done”. I would say the next big things I want to work on are some grove stuff (which I need more Star Fragments for crafting and the mushroom furniture on my wish list– some may also go to the camp site) and, of course, the Museum which I need more of Gulliver’s landmark stuff for :/ So it’s just… waiting now.

Finally, Mira ended up setting up her doorplate and I also gave her a red Giant Ribbon for no explicable reason.

I wish the ribbon was that size for us :(

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Day 42

4 / 29 / 204 / 30 / 20

Twitch Collection | Youtube Playlist | ACNH Overview

Despite Kicks literally being in the opening loading screen thing, we have no news again. I don’t even mind Isabelle rambles, it just annoys me how a lot of “news” is not mentioned at all. Meanwhile, I am cursed to never see Redd again I guess :( (I know it hasn’t been that long, but that doesn’t make me feel less behind when I see some people done already and others who have gotten him 2-3 more times)

I got the K.K. Song I ordered in today along with a Pyramid from Gulliver (yaaaay) plus a Paw-print Doorplate from Mika so I could give Mira the doorplate I wanted for her! Unfortunately, she won’t be up for a while so it’ll have to sit in my inventory for now, but at least it’s ready to go now.

Since it only took 1 Customizer thing to recolor, I went ahead and did all the colors in one go so I wouldn’t have to worry about it later.

I then went to set up the Pyramid which was bigger than I remember. I managed to more or less make it work, but hopefully I can still get everything else in too…

In the meantime, even though I got Gulliver yesterday, I still found myself check the beach out of habit while fossil searching. I found a DIY Recipe from Piper with one of my most wanted recipes– The Giant Teddybear!

The shops sadly weren’t open yet since it was 5AM, but it just makes me miss the tent hours. The 5AM music is easily my favorite, especially the rain rendition, so it makes me sad that nothing really is going on at that time. I suppose it adds to the peacefulness though.

Regardless, as the clock dinged over to 6AM and my favorite song ended, I took a walk over to the village to check out the wreaths now out. I also was able to give Mira her own (which should be out tomorrow) after she finally woke up.

Not too much else happened. I did my Nature Day Nook Miles+ thing of the day (I had to build two more fences which was kind of disappointing as I was really hoping each day’s would be “unique”), stopped by some other towns, and stopped by a friend’s town who was currently in Summer and now have traveled to all four seasons at least briefly :P

While at my friend’s town, besides giving me a bunch of items I had yet to catalog, he also gave me this lovely train set so now I have 3/4! I just still need the Summer version.

I always loved the train set and am just disappointed I don’t have somewhere to have them all set up at once.

Edit with Late night additions: Thanks to Jade, I was able to finally get the Bamboo Partition! It took a bit of tooling, but I managed to make it work:

I also spent some time in a friend’s Summer town catching things:

I just have the Blowfish left to catch now for fish. And Beetles are NOT FUN at all. I can not figure out the timing, but it feels trickier than usual with trees and I hope I get better with it :/

On a random note, Deli is one of his villagers and honestly, his house is kind of impressive. I have a lot of trouble working in smaller spaces, but he gives me hope I’ll work something out.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Day 41

4 / 28 / 207 / 5 / 20

Twitch Collection | Youtube Playlist | ACNH Overview

I hadn’t planned to start as early as I did today due to not feeling well last night, but ended up getting caught up working on lists and things as a lot of people have been way too nice to me with helping and I feel bad when they’re constantly cross-checking things when they really don’t need to go out of their way so I’m hoping making some image-version lists will help and it’ll also be quick for me to see if I have something cataloged already. Hopefully.

Anyway, as usual, there was nothing really going on today. I got the items I ordered from the Nook Shop though plus the painting I bought while over at Melissa’s town.

Seeing Gulliver here passed out on the beach though, I have to wonder about how Isabelle feels like nothing is going on.

Of course I helped him out. And while looking for his Communicator parts, I also found a bottle with a DIY Recipe from Chief in it: Kettle Bathtub. As a side note, I hope I get another furniture item from Gulliver :/ I really want to decorate around the museum with them and I’ve had awful luck with what I’ve gotten from him.

Regardless, while continuing my searches, I also noticed a message on the Bulletin board:

I don’t know what to think of the May Day event just yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing Rover. I’m kind of more excited about the Museum Stamp Rally though…

Things thankfully were moving fast this morning– I found my fossils super fast as did I find the Communication parts and Marina was even crafting again (A hedge standee).

Brenba then stopped by to give me some extra pink flowers to continue growing the pinkness of the island.

I’m in an awkward position where the arrangement I have to try and clone more pink flowers is probably best if others come to water them, but I don’t really want to ask anyone v-v I appreciate them adding more ways for friends to work together and stuff, but someone should still be able to if they water enough alone. People have to pay for online, not everyone is social, and as much as I am thankful for my friends, it’s really hard for me to ask for help and I get really anxious when people visit (which is something I try to be better with, but I can trust you with my life and it’s still rough). It’s just a bit discouraging and I can’t wait until I’m done with flowers.

I was then getting ready to finish up when I had a bunch of letters from some of my villagers.

One of these is not like the others

Cookie’s gift was a Rattan towel basket for reference.

Finally, my Nook Miles+ Nature Day challenge of the Day was to just wear a flower in my hair so I just… picked one and put it on really quick. I then gave the flower to Judy.

Other then maybe popping online to visit friends later (and check for recipes from my own villagers), it feels like everything has been pretty much taken care of today. I’m not feeling well though so we’ll see. I did stop over at a friend’s snowy island for a bit though for DIY Recipes and because she had Saharah. I’m so happy the “floating” spawns seem so much better. I saw 5 snowflakes at once at one point.

I got a few new things from Saharah and the shops. I love the decorations so much. I don’t believe there is currently an item for that cute little Snowman, but there should be. XP

I also got two new museum donations.

My favorite thing though was the color of the bamboo.

I get why we can’t, but sometimes I wish we could pick colors of things regardless of season. Like Cherry blossom season is absolutely the “best” season for my town so it’d be nice to always have those trees, but the grass colors in that vibrant shamrockish jungle green during Summer fits a lot nicer too than the spring green and it’s literally impossible to have both. Or like how I wished bushes were always in season once bloomed, but that still isn’t happening either.

Also I love the Ducky bobber so much.

Edit: Updated for some late night antics:

Merengue gave me this bow. I’ve noticed they tend to give me black hats to match my shoes but my dark brown hair kind of covers it. I also genuinely love this bow, but would love to see a smaller variant in the same spot.

Wisp showed up again and of course I helped him out.

He’s probably the Special visitor I run into the most. He ended up giving me a Life ring which I didn’t have yet, but unfortunately not in a color I wanted.

Finally, I got a very lovely letter for Aprilmas with some super cute stationery with the Snowflake wreath! I immediately crafted it and gave it to Flurry.

It also reminded me that I still haven’t given Marina the Shell wreath I had gotten from a friend (Partially as I couldn’t give her gifts yet and then it slipped my mind) so I did that and started planning out wreaths for my other villagers… I just need to actually get the recipes and those last few villagers moved in now.

I hope they look as nice on their houses as I imagine.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Day 40

4 / 27 / 204 / 27 / 20

Twitch Collection | Youtube Playlist | ACNH Overview

Isabelle let us know again nothing was really going on, but she DID find one of her favorite socks in the washer and that’s always nice.

I had gotten more mail, mostly catalog stuff, but also some nice gifts from friends. I also got a painting from Redd as Puku let me order one from her town last night– the Twinkling Painting and my third contribution to the art wing.

On my way to Blathers to submit the art, I noticed a dig spot in my Rainbow garden which just… absolutely killed me and made me want to find the flowers I have left even more so it can be done and I don’t have to fear that happening again.

I then went to comb the beach just incase and found a DIY Recipe in a bottle from Curlos: Steel-frame wall. While it’s not something I’d use, it is something I don’t have and that’s always nice.

Labelle was here at the plaza. To be honest, I don’t really like fashion challenges, but at least this was in my wheelhouse.

It was a bit of a toss-up, but I ended up going with this:

I mean, it’s literally called the Fairy-tale dress. And thankfully I succeeded. I honestly never feel confident with fashion essembles. It’s just not my forte. She gave me some sunglasses she made as a gift.

I then went looking to see if any of my villagers were crafting. Margie was sick so I got her some medicine.

I know some people think being mean to the villagers they want to move is the way to go, but that’s so cruel and I could never. All villagers are great and like, if I could have everyone I would, but I can’t help wanting my favorites. I need to actually talk to the campsite villagers too at some point, but I just constantly worry somehow they’ll immediately kick someone out and take over even though that is… not possible without any approval.

I then went off to send some mail– Mika had sent me a fake painting to catalog and it was off to Ruu next who wanted to keep it. I also took the time to send off a recipe to my husband and complete my next Nook Mile goal: Mail a flower.

Speaking of flowers, as mentioned earlier, I’m so sick of trying to breed them :( So I ended up asking on Twitter and thankfully someone was nice enough to give me some for 5 Nook Miles Tickets and considering that’s all I really spend my Nook Miles on, I had plenty.

It was really nice to finish these areas up.

And now I could finally work on this little porch area.

I still need to get several more Pink Cosmos to finish the area behind it plus one other area (which I also need more Pink Tulips for)– then I can just focus on the Pinks I’ll be using for most of the island: Lilies, Windflowers (Anemones), Hyacinths, and Roses.

Moving past my flower issues, one of the things I’ve really been enjoying is when my villagers ask me things– so far, I was asked what I wanted to be and my favorite food which I actually had a bit of a hard time answering as there’s so much I want to do and there’s a few food items that are super high up for me that I just looove. This one, however, was easy– Cookie asked me what my favorite thing to drink was and easily enough, water (though, Tea is probably a close second).

I don’t really like flavored water, but I’d try it for you, Cookie.

As for crafting, Mira was making a Brown Herringbone Wall, Judy was making an unglazed dish set, and Marina was making a dark lily crown.

Judy looks so cute in my pink version of the wave dress too T~T

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Day 39

Even Isabelle started off with how nothing is really going on and I really wish they still mentioned special events as it feels weird how characters like Daisy Mae and Saharah get no mentions at all now and it’s just a pain. Or even how the beach is littered with falling stars from the unannounced Meteor shower last night…

Regardless, despite the lack of announcements, I had a good amount of mail to kick off the day– gifts from Jade and Meg for one, but also a nice gift from Flurry too and a letter from the HHA!:

It’s kind of killing me how I’m at S rank, but still behind on gifts and wish they could just send multiple at once like the Fishing tourney mailed trophies. If I hit all the milestones, please just give it all at once. I’m afraid to even touch my home much in fear of ruining my score.

I also placed my new White Grand Piano down in the Basement in the room where I am desperate to keep this wallpaper and flooring together, but have no idea how to decorate it to somehow make that work:

(As a side note, I love that we can play while sitting on a chair now)

Anyway, while picking up stars, I did find a DIY Recipe in a bottle from Monty: Raccoon Figurine. I mailed it off to my husband as I already had one. In general though, it felt like I didn’t have many stars this time around which felt surprising as I spent hours wishing last night for my first meteor shower. I didn’t get a single large star fragment either when I got three when wishing at someone else’s town for a smaller amount of time. It was honestly really discouraging, but at least I got enough regular Star fragments to make two more Star clocks.

During my fossil searching and star gathering, I also found a lost item. It turned out it belonged to Alfonso.

I do like that Villagers know immediately who an item belongs to if you offer it to the wrong person as it cuts down on a lot of time, but I also wish there was a way to figure it out yourself to try and get it to the right person on the first try instead of being told.

Meanwhile, in the crafting realm, Cookie was crafting first followed by Judy and then Mira. I’m not sure why Cookie is so far back though– Marina was having a similar issue last night.

My Nature Day task of the day was to plant 3 Lily seeds. I essentially planted them and then sold them as I already have an abundance of extra flowers and I really don’t need to add to that. While I do appreciate the easygoingness of the event, I do wish there was more to do. Maybe there will be something special at the end of the week. I’m mainly looking forward to the Museum’s stamp rally most of all, honestly.

I stopped by Ruu’s town earlier along with Mika. It was nice to hang out together.

And then I mainly just spent some time doing crafting for people (or picking up things from friends). And thanks to some really generous gifts from friends and tips for crafting, I did some adjustments to a few areas.

I wish I could find a way to make another stall or something else work well in the cafe. I really want to have some cakes on display there, but I just can’t think of a nice way to make anything else fit.

Also I love this puppy and I want all of Mom’s Plushies so badly.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Day 38

I didn’t have many plans today with things being a bit more slow, but I did hope to stop by some friends’ towns only to end up sleeping late and ruining everything so that kicked off the day on the wrong foot entirely v-v

Regardless, Isabelle let us know someone was in the Campsite and I got my call from Nook’s Cranny about the ~244K of things I deposited in the drop box. I try not to think about the 20% that was lost. I also got mail– my painting from Redd, a sweet message from Merengue, and some gifts from friends which allowed me to cross off some wish-list items and learn a new recipe: the Windflower fan. (Thank you Meg and Mika!!)

The bushes started growing and at least it looks somewhat nice. Maybe I should’ve put dirt under the flowers though. Oh well.

I quickly stopped by the museum to drop off the painting and then worked to get my dailies done. I found a Recipe in a Bottle from Stella– Log decorative shelves which I already have sadly.

During my fossil search, I stopped by my campsite, and I can never tell if I’m more relieved or disappointed when it’s not a villager I’m looking for.

I also popped into the shops, but Able Sisters had really nothing I was looking for nor did Nook’s Cranny (the harp wasn’t the right color), but at least it was good for cataloging. I haven’t really been cataloging in the Able Sisters which I feel really bad about– partially as it’s a HUGE pain to go through everything due to the lack of a cart feature (so at most, you can get ~5 items at a time), but also since everything will go to storage, I will have to go back and forth selling things and it just gets tiring. And it feels like a waste to not try and buy one of each color then so I just end up not getting anything at all unless it’s something I want :/ I wish I had a better way of going about it.

My Nature Day Nooks Mile+ thing today ended up being to make a Flower crown which was a bit frustrating as I don’t have many flower crown recipes and I HATE picking flowers. In the end, I made another of the hybrid lily crowns as that’s what I had the most available. I only have one pink lily already picked left for crafting though before I have to start picking them and I really do not want to. I ended up giving it to Cookie after as I already had one in my own closet.

Not too much else happened– a friend of a friend was nice enough to let me stop by to their cataloging party despite being late which was really nice of them. Cataloging parties take a lot of time, effort, and trust so it was an honor to be invited.

I always feel bad about how slow I go. At least in New Leaf, it was really easy to keep track of what I had and what I didn’t, but with the way colors work for items in this game, it’s SO hard to keep up with and I wish everything was just possible to change the colors of and you could just switch to what you wanted. I do my best though.

My husband finally mailed the painting off so I went to finish off the day with the fake-art submission– to my surprise on the way to my mailbox though, shooting stars!! It seemed I was finally having my first proper meteor shower!

I then headed to the museum to donate the fake painting. I always hated doing this as it breaks my heart to do so, but I was right– Nook Miles achievement :/

I did technically notice the fakeness so less of a fake-out as at least as I identified it properly then.

Finally, a K.K. concert– this time with “Farewell”, the other request only song. I’ll probably just go in alphabetical order now (with saving Birthday for my birthday in July).

I also went and made a Windflower fan for Flurry’s yard:

And finally crafted an extra-long sofa for this little area. I don’t know if I’ll add much more (maybe some fences? Who nows), but I really want to clean up the flowers everywhere or make it more concise @-x;

Anyway, I’m off to spend a whole bunch of bells on catalog stuff now while continuing to hate the prices of things (260K for a Piano ;~; ) and also spend a ridiculous amount of time wishing on stars because I need so many Star fragments.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Day 37: Nature Day continued & thoughts

4 / 24 / 204 / 25 / 20

Twitch Collection | Youtube Playlist

Day 2 of Nature Day is here and with it being more lowkey, which honestly I do appreciate, it also brings to head my further complicated feelings with the game. I still agree a lot with my post last month about how I felt frustrated and it hasn’t really lessened.

In general, I’m not necessarily against new features. But I don’t like old features that they planned to bring back anyway being forced into an update we won’t see for a while. Especially when moving stuff around sucks and terraforming is as clunky as it is and constantly changing plans due to possibly new buildings and new things gets tiring. New items is one thing, new features is another.

And just, free updates do not get me to check in that often. I stopped Splatoon before I got through every Splatfest and new thing. I stopped Splatoon 2 even faster. I’d like to hope I’ll keep checking into AC and heck, some of the events look fun, but I just… don’t like the way they’re implementing them– even as someone who doesn’t time travel.

One of the nice things about Animal Crossing is you could play how you want. There were multiple paths to get to where you hoped to. In New Horizons, things feel a lot less flexible this time around. You can’t time travel to events until Nintendo adds them, you can only earn so much interest (which while isn’t new, it’s A LOT less now when item prices are so much more), and if you’re not playing the turnip game every single week, you’re screwed. And yet if you adjust the time in anyway (switch your time to a date you had good prices to help a friend or extent a few hours to help more people), the price resets to a low price because screw you I guess.

Animal Crossing is supposed to be fun and the amount of focus on the economy and forcing you into these lines to play in feels crazy because it’s supposed to be about helping others and playing at your own pace and not “you can visit my town and talk to this one villager for a crafting recipe for 10 Nook Miles Tickets”, also don’t forget to check constantly or you could miss out on something!

I hate the turnip market. Right now, New Horizons has probably the best ranged with it between various websites and discords you can list your prices, but I just… don’t like dealing with them.

Even ignoring the potential paranoia that everyone would suddenly have terrible prices the moment I buy a single turnip, I just… have no where to put them. Can’t store them (and my storage is nearly full), can’t stand placing them anywhere, and thus I’d have an inventory full of turnips and be unable to do anything. Once I finished with turnips in New Leaf? I was done. Set. In New Horizons? I hit all the stamp accomplishments for Nook Miles, but have maybe a month’s worth of savings left at best due to the new prices in-game and just… trying to visit towns and tip nicely as I catalog forever.

Even when Summer hits, I don’t think it’ll be helpful. It feels like tree spawns have been dramatically lessened from New Leaf and even when playing in a friend’s Southern Hemisphere island last month, rarely saw any. And to be honest, I was lucky if I caught them for the museum– let alone more than that.

Crafting also is just… such a big focus to the point where it almost feels like the game could be a spin-off in a similar sense to Happy Home Designer. They said some items may be exclusive to crafting while others you can buy or items could be bought or made, but that no longer seems to be the case and while yes, maybe only about a third or so of items are crafted, it’s still a lot. Similarly, forcing colors in but being unable to change all of them feels like a mistake and as much as I love having so many pink items, there were better ways to do this.

I’m absolutely burnt out of material gathering. I have so little stone and wood. My storage is bursting at the seams. I HATE picking flowers and don’t have enough for the recipes I need to make but also don’t want more of certain colors and just, I want to play the way I want to, but it’s like I’m stuck in this rigid set of rules and it sucks. I don’t do any of the things that people consider cheating, yet I feel so lost and while yes, Animal Crossing is supposed to be a slow-paced game, it can still be one without forcing restrictions on you for how to play.

The only thing my tools constantly breaking does is make catch bugs and fish EVEN LESS than I usually would.
The only thing the constant recipe checking is doing is making me anxious about missing out. Constantly. As if it was a mobile game.
The only thing the crafting is doing is burning me out of daily tasks trying to keep up with materials and constantly running out.
The only thing running out of bells is doing when I hate the turnip market and saw even over 10 million bells drain as fast as it has (it’s been a little over a month!!) is making me not want to play anymore.

I keep trying to focus on what I like. But it’s like everything that’s wrong blares at me a little more. I wish I could just be focusing on when a villager may move out so I can easily get another favorite villager or when the items may stock or if a friend may get them in stock or if they can let me catalog something for me to order, but instead, everything has so many more steps.

Find the recipe, find the materials, make it, possibly refurbish it, make it again. And again. Can only do one at a time after all.
See an item in the store, hope it’s the right color as there is a very high chance you can’t change it and also hope you have the bells because so many items that were 2K are now like 100K+!
Even with the Amiibo, things have still been glitchy so I’ve been too afraid to use them, even when a villager does move out (and well, I’d have to scan them twice before anyway…).

And just, I love helping people. I love helping friends. But I’ve been burnt a lot in the past too and I don’t like asking for help and so when I’m forced to depend on others whether it comes to trying to get these recipes (which again means no breaks as you could miss something) or like the watering thing where 5 people watering your flowers increases breeding/hybrid chances– I don’t want to bother people (and I know a lot of you will say it’s not a bother and I appreciate that but it still doesn’t make me feel less awkward asking!!) and honestly, I hate watering my own flowers, I’m not going to ask other people to do it too.

You can bring a community together without making things so rough without it. I met some great people from so many different countries thanks to New Leaf (Zed, Chananr, Carina, Ruu, and Mika are just a few to name offhand), I’m so happy to be playing with them again and to be helping along.

But we enjoy doing that without the game saying we have to in order to play the way we want. And I wish New Horizons had more fate in that.

Anyway, you likely didn’t come here to hear me run my mouth about the endless crisis I have while playing, so let’s properly get into Day 37.

Isabelle kicked it off by letting us know the museum had indeed remodeled. I got some lovely gifts in the mail (Thank you to Meg and Melissa!!) and while I couldn’t place all of them just yet, I couldn’t resist at least placing the Harp. I always wanted to learn to play the Harp…

And then as soon as I left the house, I ran into Redd.

It actually threw me off a bit as I didn’t expect to see him again that quickly and get on his boat, but I appreciated it.

On my way to Redd’s ship, I then ran into Cookie who wanted to teach me a new reaction.

To answer this question really: I go on a several paragraph rant and cry. But sometimes Cookie’s idea works.

And thus I learned Aggression for when Crying just isn’t enough to show how the game is breaking me down. With a new reaction learned, I was back off to Redd’s.

I’m honestly disappointed they brought back the “You can only buy one painting a day” thing and honestly, I’ve never been fond of waiting a whole day for the piece of art. I mean, I can SEE them. Just let me go home with it. Regardless, it wasn’t a big deal as it seemed like only one painting there was real anyway– the Wild Painting right half. The Serene Painting definitely had a different coloring for the Ermine, the Famous Painting had different eyebrows, and I’m pretty sure the Amazing Painting didn’t have the hat, but that one I felt was the trickiest to tell for sure of these three. In the end, I had my husband come over to buy one of the fake ones anyway for me to donate as seeing some of the other negative Nook Miles things, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was one for submitting a fake painting too. And well, if I was wrong about the Amazing Painting and it wasn’t actually fake and the hat was there, I didn’t miss out on anything. But I’m pretty sure it was fake.

I then quickly made two fences for my Nature Day Nook Miles+ goal today and checked with Tom Nook, but it there was no other special rewards or anything beyond the additional Nook Miles. We could, however, hold the ceremony for the Museum so of course I did that.

I really love the new museum. I also love how they tell you information on the painting now when reading the description.

Not too much happened otherwise. Marina is properly moved in and I’m super happy to see her.

I visited Puku for cataloging, but we sadly ran into a glitch where the game just had us stuck (her in a loading screen and me trying to pick something up) despite things still happening around us… So we’re hoping to try again soon.

I then visited Sami’s town to see Celeste and got an Astronaut suit recipe. I also got a Bamboo flooring recipe from Octavian. After that, I did some random crafting for other people.

Once back in my own town, I tried clearing out my storage. I mostly sold things, but I also placed some stuff I had been planning to and hadn’t yet. And I even found another Lily of the Valley/Jacob’s ladder!

Unfortunately, while shaking some trees (and then giving up early because honestly my trees just aren’t in a great position for gift searching), I got stung as due to things being in front of the tree, I ended up shaking the tree again instead of actually swinging the net.

On my way back to my house to continue storage clearing (and also get medicine for my face as all the shops since closed), I ran into Flurry who actually gave me some medicine.

I sent her a thank you letter and a gift and then continued my storage wipe. In the end, I made about 250K selling a bunch of stuff which… is about what I ended up spending because the prices in this game suck so I guess at least I broke even.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Day 36 – The Event Begins!

4 / 23 / 204 / 23 / 20

Twitch Collection | Youtube Playlist

So, before we get to things starting rollover, I do want to bring up some stuff from shortly before rollover. A friend had gotten Redd in his town (because timezones) and let me stop by! Unfortunately, Redd had nothing for me during his first visit to this island. Even his ship was closed for now.

However, my friend let me take the Wistful Painting he got from Redd! And thus, I immediately ran to donate it to Blathers.

I’m so excited for the upgrade.

And with that, we officially hit Day 36 and the start of the Nature Day event! And Marina moving in!! The museum expanded as well or well… is. Unfortunately, it’s closed for the construction today T__T But soon!!

I had a lot of mail– mostly from stuff I ordered, but also a letter from Tom Nook telling me about the special Nook Miles+ things available during the event. I also received a DAL Apron from Dodo Airlines as thanks for my support.

A lot of flowers had bred due to all the rain and I got a good amount of pink, but also the third blue rose I needed! Just 2 hybrids left to go: Green Mums and Black Cosmos.

Meanwhile on the beach, I had a bottle with a recipe in it from Julian and learned how to make an Iron Wall Rack.

And of course, I had to go greet Marina now that she was here.

I then went to see Leif. Despite seeing Redd at the plaza during the intro, he wasn’t there with Leif. Leif actually sells the flowers that aren’t usually sold in your town which is nice.

Leif also will buy your bundles of weeds for twice the price the Nooklings pay. I hope it still counts towards the Nook Miles thing at least.

I then went to look around for Redd– at the very least, his ship was there.

Eventually, I found him wandering around and he asked me to give him nearly 500K for a Perfect Painting…

In the end, he sold it to me for 5K.

I think it’s legit. Hopefully. Maybe? Well, I’ll know for sure tomorrow.

In the meantime, I tried placing bushes around. I know it’s not really realistic, but I wish they were fully grown as I have no idea if I did a decent job.

I also went to Resident Services to talk to Tom Nook about the event. I always like when they notice you finished super quickly or even already.

I’m not sure when I’ll use this exactly (I know some people are thinking of switching out their fences to hedges entirely, but I don’t think I want to do that), but I did try placing some a bit randomly.

It seems there is just one special event Nook Miles thing a day so at least that makes it a bit relaxing. I feel like having to wait for Leif to return to get more bushes though is going to get annoying really fast so I hope I can work out where I want them x__x Or I guess I can buy a bunch to hold onto (assuming they can be stored…), but with my storage full, even that may not be for the best.

In the meantime, I learned the Floral Swag DIY from Merengue.

And I set up Marina’s yard:

I hope to get everyone’s done eventually– right now, only really hers and Merengue’s are set, but theirs are two of the ones I had ideas for pretty quickly. I have some ideas for Maple, but I hope I can come up with something for all of them.

It looks like it’ll be a relatively calm day overall which after Easter and Cherry Blossom season, I’m happy to take. I think my only stress right now is trying to figure out what to do with the bushes. And avoiding any other weird glitches.

On the bright side, I finally have my Shell Wand!

Flurry got an audience for her singing:

And while at a friend’s town, I ran into Celeste and finally can make the Star Clock! I used it to decorate the Grove area a bit more.

I’d still like to make one more, but my Star Fragments are completely drained now…

I also managed to get some of each bush so here’s hoping this looks nice in the end…
