Avatar Design Tool & Importing

Unfortunately, the ADT was removed upon the full launch of the game on December 5th. I’m keeping this up for archival purposes, but obviously, it’s not possible to use anymore.

The ADT (Avatar Design Tool) is essentially the game’s demo showing off the character creator. It is only available on PC devices (Steam, Epic, Windows Store), but you can use the import code anywhere using the Import option on the Avatar Create screen. The Import Code only lasts for 24 hours. Buying Dreamlight Valley on Steam also overwrites the Demo so make sure you get the code first before buying the game or consider the other two options instead.

Advantages for using the ADT first:

  • You get to pick an outfit for your character from the start with hundreds of options (though, not everything). You get the “starter” outfit (White shirt, blue jeans, sneakers) either way, but this lets you have an outfit you may like more or even your own custom outfit from the beginning (though, you do have the tool right away so you can always make one after starting too)
  • You get a Bonus Jersey as a gift. This is the only way to get the item currently.

Obviously, if you don’t care about those things or want to earn everything solely through Scrooge’s shop, then it’s fine to skip out on it, but just wanted to mention it!

You can actually Import at a later time too by going to Settings then Help and there is an Import Avatar button, but the Avatar Import code only lasts 24 hours and on Steam, the game overwrites the demo so you would need to either make sure you have the code beforehand OR play the ADT Demo on Epic Game Store instread.

Critter Notes

Animals could originally be only fed once a day (so if you messed up, that was it), but this was changed with the patch on December 6th, 2022 and they now can be fed multiple times a day. They only will count towards befriending and give a gift the first time you successfully feed them though. This is mainly an opportunity if you fed them something they won’t eat to try again. With the newest update, you may need to wait until Mirabel’s Level 4 Quest is done before being able to Feed Critters again properly.

Favorite Food Observations

  • Squirrel – Peanuts
    • Non-Favorites they will also eat: Any Fruit
  • Rabbits – Carrot
    • Non-Favorites they will also eat: Other Vegetables
  • Turtle – Seaweed
    • Non-Favorites they will also eat: Shellfish (what the game calls Seafood)
  • Raccoon – Blueberries
    • Non-Favorites they will also eat: Other Berries
  • Crocodiles – Lobster
    • Non-Favorites they will also eat: Herring, Squid
  • Foxes – White Sturgeon
    • Non-Favorites they will also eat: Salmon
  • Sunbirds: Flowers that match their colors (So they can have more favorites than listed)
    • Golden Sunbird – Orange Houseleek
    • Emerald Sunbird – Green Passion Lily, Green Rising Penstemon
    • Orchid Sunbird – Purple Impatiens, Pink Bromeliad
    • Red Sunbird – Red Bromeliad
    • Turquoise Sunbird – Pink Houseleek
    • Non-Favorites they will also all eat: Berries, any other flowers
  • Raven – 5 Star Meals
    • Non-Favorites they will also eat: 3 Star Meals, 4 Star Meals
  • Capybara – Cabbage
    • Non-Favorites they will also eat: Cinnamon, Majestea, Bamboo, Celery
  • Cobra Snake – Eggs
    • Non-Favorites they will also eat: Scorpions
  • Monkey – Banana Split
    • Non-Favorites they will also eat: 3* Meals, 4* Meals, 5* Meals

*Insertitemhere* is pretty rare. Why should I feed them a favorite over a non-favorite?

For one, Critters do get befriended slightly faster with Favorite Foods. Depending on the Critter, you could shave off how many times you need to feed them to befriend using favorites versus liked food. That said, the difference is negligible and only really shaves off 1-3 times at most. It’s possible this could be a stronger gap when newer critters come out though.

Before September 15th’s patch, the biggest plus to this was higher chance of Dream Shards as you need a lot for certain quests, but with the recent changes, it’s much more common and possible to get with Liked Food as well. That said, feeding favorites is still the best chance for earning Motif Bags, so if you’d like to collect them all, you may still want to go this route until you have all the current ones in the game.

There’s also a Dreamlight Task per Critter that requires you to feed a favorite item 10 times in addition to just feeding them at all, so you do need to feed it at least 10 times for the task. (If you’re wondering why you should care about the Dreamlight Tasks, there’s more on it in the next section).

Plus, while still needing more testing to check, it’s does feel like you have a higher chance of feeding memories favorites as well.

But otherwise, if you’re really just focusing on befriending, it’s up to you and just how badly you want the color if you want those extra feedings shaved off or not.

How to Approach

  • Squirrel – Just approach them
  • Rabbits – Chase them three times, then approach
  • Turtle – Stand next to them until they stick their head back out of the shell
  • Raccoon – Chase until they stop, then play Red Light, Green light. When they are fully standing up, stay still. When they crouch down, approach. Repeat until you get close enough to interact with them. When they sit down in the grass, they are safe to further approach.
  • Crocodiles – Same as Raccoon, but they’ll just lift their head up and look side to side before crouching down. When they lay all the way down on their bellies, they are safe to further approach.
  • Foxes – Same as Rabbits
  • Sunbirds – Approach when they’re staying in place
  • Raven – Work kind of like Turtles. Get close and they’ll fly up– just stand there until they fly down to you.
  • Capybara – Same as Squirrels
  • Cobra Snake – Works like Raccoons and Crocodiles.
  • Monkey – Same as Rabbits and Foxes

Weekly Schedule

Squirrels are in the Plaza, Rabbits in the Peaceful Meadow, Sea Turtles are in Dazzle Beach, Crocodiles are in Glade of Trust, Raccoons are in Forest of Valor, Foxes are in Frosted Heights, Sunbirds are in Sunlit Plateau, Ravens are in Forgotten Lands.
The Expansion brought 3 new Biomes and 3 new pets– one for each: Capybaras in Wild Tangle, Cobra Snakes in Glittering Dunes, and Monkeys in Ancient Landing, but each Biome actually is made of sub-sections and most colors do not overlap per day:

  • Ancient Landing:
    • The Docks: Classic Monkey
    • The Courtyard: Black and Brown Monkey
    • The Overlook: Red and Beige Monkey
    • The Ruins: Beige Monkey, Black and Gray Monkey
  • Wild Tangle:
    • The Grasslands – Classic Capybara
    • The Promenade – Black and White Capybara
    • The Grove – Blue Striped Capybara
    • The Lagoon – Gray Spotted Capybara, Red and White Striped Capybara
  • Glittering Dunes:
    • The Plains – Classic Cobra
    • The Borderlands – Green and White Striped Cobra, Yellow and Purple Striped Cobra
    • The Oasis – Pink Spotted Cobra
    • The Wastes – Blue and Red Striped Cobra
  • For the main Dreamlight Valley game, each Animal has 4 colors that will show up 4 times a day– three times for all day and one day where they will only show up for 12 hours. The last color (or for Crocodiles, last two) are only available for 6 hours for one single Day. Below, you can find all the specific times.
At the moment, Daylight Savings Time is not currently accounted for so if your clock turned back an hour, despite the times not changing, everything is an hour earlier than listed.

A Rift in Time’s Expansion Critters seem to be a bit different with sometimes up to two limited time ones per day and two all day colors.

Are there any Critters you can get that are not in the Critter Collection?
    Yes! There’s currently the following:

    • Choco Crocodile was a gift to anyone who started playing Week 1. It is currently no longer available, unfortunately.
    • Jester Monkey is available to anyone who started playing the Rift in Time DLC during the first week of release.
    • Flowery Capybara was given to anyone who bought the game prior to the release OR anyone who bought the Gold edition of the game.
    • Anger Raccoon, Disgust Raccoon, Fear Raccoon, Joy Raccoon, and Sadness Raccoon are from buying the Cozy Edition (The “Physical” version) of the game.
    • Celestial Sea Turtle and Regal Fox are from the Founders Packs– you get the Sea Turtle from the Deluxe Edition or you could get both the Fox and Sea Turtle if you bought the Ultimate Edition.
    • Pua is from Moana’s Friendship Questline.
    • The following have been available through Star Paths: IncrediSquirrel, Wind-Up Raccoon, Festive Fox, Gentle Rabbit Bunny, Magical Squirrel, Fiery Raven, Pirate Parrot, Snowy Raccoon, Rosy Cloud Turtle. Unfortunately, they become no longer available as each Star Path ends, but DDLV is currently experimenting with bringing them back so fingers crossed if there is one you are interested!.
    • Scary Squirrel is from doing the Frosted Heights Main Story Quest.
    • The Premium Shop Pets thus far are: 8 Pink Whimsical Pets (one per Standard Valley (non-expansion) Critter type), 8 Blue Whimsical Pets (one per Standard Valley (non-expansion) Critter type), Tart Turtle, Bountiful Croc, Gingerbread Rabbit.
    • Blue Spring Rabbit, Pink Spring Rabbit, and Yellow Spring Rabbit are for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tiers of the ‘That’s Not Where Eggs Come From!’ Event Dreamlight Task under Village. They are gotten at 30, 60, and 100 respectively.
    • Rainbow Fox is available through using the Rainbow Potion on a Fox Statue you’ll find in the Forgotten’s Castle during the Forgotten Lands Orb Quest.
    • The Ancient Robot is a Pet you can craft at a Timebending Table under Special. It requires 15,000 Mist, 10 Ancient Gears, 10 Ancient Magnets, 10 Ancient Plates, and 3 Ancient Core (Level 3).

    Various Tool/Item/Feature Upgrades/Unlocks

Upgrades are essentially gotten through various quests. It’s one of the main reasons to work on Friendship Quests in addition to regular tasks.

WALL-E vs Moana vs Remy – Which first?

More or less, each character unlocks something kind of important as you level them up. Depending on what you’re looking to do or want to focus on may have some input on your choice here. I think each has their advantages. And honestly, it’s entirely possible to unlock all three the first day anyway.

    • WALL-E – WALL-E is actually a side character in many quests and helps out in various ways, including in Merlin’s friendship quests to upgrade your watering can. His main addition to the valley is when his friendship is high enough, you’ll have a quest to fix up a garden where he’ll plant crops for you to harvest once a day. He can plant crops from any biome, even if you haven’t unlocked them yet.
    • Moana – Besides the fact that you can’t get Maui until she’s in your valley, through her friendship quest, you’ll eventually find a boat you can fix up. Fixing it up will allow you to get various fish from her multiple times a day. She can catch fish from any biome, even if you haven’t unlocked them yet. Until you do Sunlit Plateau’s Biome Story to get the Fishing Spots back, this will be the only way to get a Walleye when her boat is upgraded to a higher level.
    • Remy – Unlocks his restaurant which includes letting you serve characters their requested meals which gives a huge friendship boost and unlocks ingredients you can only get from buying them at his restaurant. Plus, you can cook with Remy. Star Path almost always has tasks that require serving customers in his restaurant as well.

Finally, a list of general unlocks from everyone:

    • Merlin’s questline needs to be finished in order to make your Watering Can work on the various Mushrooms you’ll see around. You’ll first only be able to get rid of small patches of mushrooms (after the initial quest to test it out) and in his final quest, you’ll be able to remove the big patches as well.
    • Anna’s questline needs to be finished in order to remove the mushroom stumps with your Shovel. Unlike most upgrades though, hers is pretty early on.
    • The Pickaxe actually has upgrades from different characters. To remove the big coral (big green things on the beach), you need to work on Maui’s questline, while for the Ice Chunks (both small and big– like Merlin’s, it’ll take different quests), you need to work on Elsa’s. The bones require doing Scar’s questline.
    • Kristoff’s friendship quests not only let you get Donald Duck, but allow him to open a stall, similar to Goofy’s, where he sells “basic” materials such as Stone and Softwood. At the end, he adds additional materials like sand.
    • Remy’s friendship quests allow him to add Peanuts and Slush Ice to his purchasable items at his restaurant. Not to mention the whole Restaurant unlocking in the first place (see above for more information)
    • Moana unlocks a Fishing Boat that will bring in various fish from every biome. Her questline also gets Pua as a Critter you can equip to follow you and new constellations in the sky.
    • WALL-E unlocks the ability to fix up the garden for him to plant various crops (from all biomes) for you to harvest once a day.
    • Ursula’s friendship questline needs to be completed in order to unlock Eric.
    • Eric’s questline allows Ariel to switch from her Mermaid form to Human form (and vice versa if she wants to). It also lets him unlock a Blueprint station in his house where you can buy new crafting recipes.
    • Mickey’s questline is required to get Minnie and also unlocks a secret room in the Castle which gets you some neat things, but is required to have opened to find all of the Orange Pebbles for the Orange Potato.
    • Goofy’s questline unlocks a Raft which, when fixed up, is how you can find and get Ariel.
    • Finishing Donald’s first quest unlocks the Missing Socks quest which is how you unlock Stitch.
    • Stitch unlocks Coffee Beans. They start growing in the Glade of Trust.
    • Nala unlocks the Here and There Fish.
    • Simba unlocks the Dreamlight Fruit.
    • Scrooge’s Level 10 Quest gives glasses called the Lenses of Shadows which are actually used in part of the Potato mystery.
    • Fairy Godmother’s first friendship quest allows you to upgrade your watering can so you can remove the Green fires.
    • Gaston’s friendship questline unlocks meat that he sells at his stall.

    What about Quest unlocks?
In general, getting Friendship quests done and staying up to date on Story will get most things done. Some of the trickier ones are ones that require finding a specific item or like one of WALL-E’s that requires finding a specific Memory.
Buzz’s Alien Rescue Mission quest can’t be done until you fix the UFO Catcher and find Aliens for Woody.
Minnie’s Spellbook quest can’t be done until you’ve done her Clocktower quest.
Remy’s new quest requires finding a bag in the Forest of Valor and also may not unlock right away.
WALL-E’s new quest requires finding a Book on Dazzle Beach.

What about Biomes? Is there an order I should unlock them in?

I would say an easy way to do it is either by going in cost order or by what your quests require. If you look in your quest list under Quests not unlocked yet, it will tell you what you need to unlock them. If you still want to know what you can unlock from each Biome, I’ve made a quick list below.

Some notes: Every Biome has their own fish, gems, and crops/forageables you can find. Some do overlap. There’s also their Orb. I will not be mentioning these as you can find the details through your Collection Menu and it’s something that can change a bit across every biome.

    • Peaceful Meadow – The one area that doesn’t require Dreamlight to unlock– you should open it up as soon as you get the pickaxe, but this is where you can find Goofy and get the Royal Fishing Rod. You can find Rabbits here. This is also where the Gardening area for WALL-E is.
    • Dazzle Beach – Usually the next you’ll unlock. Sea Turtles are here and it’s where you need to place any houses that require being placed on the water. Unlocking it also lets you get access to the raft to get to Ariel, Moana’s boat for fishing, and Ursula.
    • Glade of Trust – Where Crocodiles are. You can also meet Mother Gothel here.
    • Forest of Valor – Where Kristoff is and how you unlock Donald. Kristoff’s house also doubles as Anna’s. You can also find Raccoons here. Plus, the ice cave Elsa will use as her own house.
    • Sunlit Plateau – Where Scar is plus a Mine that has some gems you can only get there. Also where you find Sunbirds.
    • Frosted Heights – Where you can find Foxes, unlock Olaf, and get the Purple Potato.
    • Forgotten Lands – You can get to the back area of Sunlit Plateau if you haven’t gotten the upgrade to remove bones yet, unlock Fairy Godmother, and find Ravens.

Crops do grow 10% faster in their home biome, but I don’t personally feel it’s enough of a boost to go out of your way for.

I have so much Dreamlight now… Is there any reason to keep working on tasks?

Well, for one, you have no idea how much things may cost in the future, but as for something now, the tree around the Fountain in the Plaza will actually grow as you complete tasks. The more Dreamlight Tasks completed, the more your tree grows. Dreamlight Duties do not seem to count for the tree as a whole, but the task for completing a certain number of them does. Some are NOT currently possible to complete either so do your best!

    Recipe Notes

If you’re looking for a full Recipe Guiide, please head over to this page.

Despite many Recipes saying you can use any ingredient of that type, it’s not always true. For one, if that item makes something else (for example, 1 Lettuce will make Salad or 1 Potato will make Puree), they will not make something like… Crudites or Grilled Vegetables. Crudites in general can only be made with certain vegetables while others will make Grilled Vegetables or a specific soup. As Soup is specified, I’ve just listed below the ones that will make the two simple Vegetable dishes that can come up, despite calling for general ingredients.

Crudites – Bell Pepper, Carrot, Cucumber, Mushroom, Zucchini
Grilled Vegetables – Asparagus, Chili Pepper, Corn, Eggplant, Onion, Pumpkin, Spinach

You can check out this video where I make every Recipe available at the time.

Walleye is currently unable to be caught in Sunlit Plateau and can only be gotten through Moana’s Boat once unlocked.
Fugu can only be caught in gold bubbles when it rains and Kingfish can only be caught in gold bubbles at night.

Finally, Star Rank for a Recipe is determined by the amount of required ingredients it has. If you make a Salad with 5 Lettuce, it will still be 1 Star, but Vegetarian Pizza, as an example, requires 5 ingredients so it’ll always be 5 stars.

Remy’s Realm (An Important Night at the Restaurant)

Remy requires you to make various dishes for a busy night at the restaurant. All ingredients on his shelves can be used for free, but only in his Kitchen. You cannot take them outside of the Realm, but you can use this opportunity to learn more recipes– just keep in mind they won’t count towards Dreamlight tasks. Recipes do not require cookbooks or a quest to learn (unless it’s quest specific and thus isn’t in the Recipe section)– if you manage to make the dish with the proper ingredients, you learn it.

Recipes for everything you need (or have the option) to make:

    Event Tasks

Starting with Halloween, the game started adding special Event-based Dreamlight Tasks under the “Village” section. While the Tasks are permanent, most of the goals can only be completed while the Event is currently taking place. That said, if you missed them the first time, you can get them when the event comes back around.

The Tasks all give you special items upon completing them.

    Pumpkin Icon (Halloween)

    • Trick or Treat – Give any gift to at least 10 different Villagers. Gives the Mickey Mouse Pumpkin.
    • Sugar Rush – Eat candy. You’ll need to eat 100 total for all three tiers. Rewards Happy Jack-O’Lantern, Mischievous Jack-O’-Lantern, and Friendly Jack-O’-Lantern at each respective tier.
    • A 3-Course Halloween Meal – From October 24th-November 1st Candy buckets will start spawning in your Valley. You need to get one of each color and eat the respective Candy (So 1 Red, 1 Purple, and 1 Green) to unlock this. Gives the Green Trick or Treater’s Bounty.
    • Villainy Wears Many Masks – Put a mask on your character– anything in the “Masks” category under wardrobe counts. Gives the Purple Trick or Treater’s Bounty
    • Stockpiling Pumpkins – Harvest 100 Pumpkins. Gives the Pumpkin Stack.

    Present Icon (Festive Season)

    • Cookie Taste Test – Eat one of each of the three different cookies. (The Hero Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Minnie’s Gingerbread Cookies). Gives you Festive Candy Ears
    • Do You Wanna Build a Snowman? – Place a Snowman you crafted outside. Gives you Festive Candy Ears with Bow
    • A Home for the Holidays – Place 5 Festive items in your home. Gives you Winter Carpet.
    • Even Fish Are Festive! – Catch one of each Festive Fish during the Holiday Event. They are indicated by green/red bubbles. Remember it has to be raining for Fugu and the Festive Anglerfish seems to only be at night and early morning (so 6PM-7AM roughly). Gives you a Santa Hat.
    • Ho! Ho! Ho! – Give 10 Gifts (the presents you can craft) during the Holiday Event. Gives you Pile of Gifts

    Egg Icon (Spring season/Eggstravaganza)

The event lasts from April 8th to April 29th.

    • That’s Not Where Eggs Come From! – Harvest Spring V-EGG-etables that you grow and harvest from crafting their seeds. There are multiple tiers each with a reward: Spring Chocolate, Blue Spring Rabbit, Pink Spring Rabbit, and Yellow Spring Rabbit.
    • Spring Taste Test – Make all 3 Spring Dishes and Eat them. You will receive Spring Tableware.
    • Eggs-ceptional Decorating – Place 4 Easter Decorations (Crafted at the Crafting Station– May be specifically the 4 Egg ones). Gives you the Tulip Lamp.
    • WALL-E Loves Flowers – Hang out with WALL-E and pick 50 flowers. This one can be done at anytime. You will receive a Decorative Tulip Bouquet.

The Pink Eggs can be found in 3 Bushes randomly placed around your Valley. Blue Eggs are found randomly on the ground in your Valley. Yellow Eggs grow from the Seeds you can Craft using the other two eggs. The eggs are used for both crafting special themed furniture, but also for creating three new recipes as well.

    Did you know?

A selection of random tips and information that I’ve seen a lot of people not know that you may find helpful!

    • You can quick travel to any Realms you’ve unlocked– simply click the Castle from the map and you can choose which Realm you want to visit. You can also use this to quickly pick any Well in any Biome as well by picking the “Villages” option.
      • This is especially handy with Remy’s world– as cooking there doesn’t use up goal, it’s a quick way to make food to eat. You can’t take it with you, but the stamina recovered there from eating cooked dishes will carry over after leaving.
    • What wood drops from trees depends on which Biome they are in! If you need more of a specific type of wood, try putting more trees in that area. Wood can spawn up to 2 blocks out from a tree in all directions (think of two squares around it) so try and have those areas free to get as much wood as possible.
    • Crops grow 10% faster if grown in the Biome they’re available in.
    • In order to save rarer ingredients when testing recipes, you can fill up your inventory with any non-food items. When the game prompts you about your inventory being full, above your inventory will be an icon of what you made. Most recipes have unique pictures so you can know in advance if you succeeded or not on figuring out a recipe. If you don’t drop an item to get the dish in your inventory, the ingredients won’t be used up.
    • A LOT of things can be moved, even the Forageable trees/bushes (Blueberries, Apples, Cherries, etc.), so feel free to put them somewhere more convenient for you or to make things look nicer.
    • Flowers respawn multiple times a day, but each biome has a cap for how many of a specific type of flower can spawn in a certain period. If you want more of a specific flower, only keep picking those specific ones.
    • As of Update 2, only Watering Dried Flowers counts for memories, unfortunately.
    • You can earn Cooking Memories in Remy’s realm to save on ingredients and coal!
    • There is a path to the backside of Sunlit Plateau through the Forgotten Realms.
    • You can place Food and a lot of different forageables on furniture by dropping them on the ground and moving them like any other item.
    • Scrooge currently only lets you buy more of an item if there is at least one in your inventory, crafting items included. You can even use this to make more of the chest that comes with your house, however: The items will always be shared. It will not let you have more of that chest to store more stuff.
    • There is no limit to how many gifts you can give a character a day. The only limit is on the favorite item boost– you can only get 3 boosted friendship from items a day (one per favorite). Flowers seem to be the best gift after favorites so it’s worth picking them all just to build up that count as there is a limit to how many can be in a biome and more won’t spawn if that flower limit is hit (it also varies per color per type). You can keep giving favorites until they hit level 10.
    • The Collection Tab is very helpful! It tells you what Biome you can find each thing in, lets you know if a Critter is available that day (and what time), and even how many ingredients a dish requires. It’s also a quick way to check what each character’s favorite items of the day are ahead of time.
    • The Orb of Nurturing takes about 2-3 days to grow with watering needed every 16 hours. However, you can grow it instantly if you use one of the Potions you unlock for instant watering the next time it dries out. You can do this with other quest-related items you need to water as well. Just keep in mind it only works if the crop is dry.
    • The Villager/Companion Skill Bonus isn’t solely by level, but also how many you have with that skill as well. (IE: 5 Characters with Mining will do more than 4 Characters with Fishing) I’m not sure if there is a max.
    • Since Update 3, you can find a Red Potato in Remy’s House. Please see Potato Mystery for what to do with it.
    • The other books you pick up in the Cave during the Frosted Heights Story Quest can be given to Olaf for a huge friendship boost. Though, you can also keep them and use them to decorate as well!
    • As of Update 4, there are now Companion Houses you can craft that will let up to 4 of your Companions hang out. You can make as many houses to place as you want. The pet following you can not also be in a Companion house though!
    • As of Update 4, you can now take photos with your Pets/Critters! Each Pet/Critter has a different pose you get in for them. You can use this photo mode by changing from Self Portrait to the Full Body Camera (Change Camera Mode– third option to the left, to change the border size, the option above that works). In this mode, a Pawprint will show up under Pose options that you can pick to pose with your pet! The pet picked for posing will be whichever you currently have equpped.

Misc. Quests, Other Information, and Resource Gathering

What to do with the Black Shard you find in the Forgotten Lands?
It’s used in Ursula’s Friendship Questline.

Where do I bury the Night/Evening Shard for Mother Gothel and how long does it take to grow?
Forgotten Lands. It takes 24 hours. It needs to be watered multiple times.

What do I do with the Conspicuous Book I found in the secret room in the Castle during Mickey’s Level 10 Quest?
Interact with the Bookshelf and place it to unlock a hidden room in the secret room!

How do I make Extra Fizzy Root Beer?
The Dried Ginger you get plus Vanilla and Sugarcane.

    My quest’s objective isn’t updating!
Try having the task set as the focused/tracked task (Or even the character following you so they don’t wander off to bed). A lot of the issues can be fixed with that. Other times, a reboot or changing zones can help.

What’s the best way to get Seaweed?
Fish where there aren’t any bubbles. You don’t have to throw your rod in bubbles to fish.

What’s the best way to get Soil, Clay, Seaweed, and/or Scales?
    Rich Soil: Harvesting Crops
Soil: Dig holes in Peaceful Meadow
Clay: Dig holes in Glade of Trust or Sunlit Plateau
Seaweed: Fish outside of the Bubble pools.
Scales: Fish outside of the Bubble pools in the Oasis.

What’s with the Atlantean? Does it say anything?
All the Diary Entries essentially sat the same thing in the Diary Page Photos, with a couple of letters missing or cut off:
    This Diary Belongs to
    the Ruler of Dreamlight Valley
    Private. Do not read.

Captions for what each diary entry apparently actually entails do show up after a bit, but may take a while to load initially. There has been some Atlantean in promotional material and even a tiny bit in the opening cutscene, but the latter gets cut off too much to make out more than one word.

What are the recipes Remy needs help remembering in Simba’s level 4 quest? Also, in Remy’s new quest in Update 4 for 5 Star Meals, do I need to make things with the ingredients he gives us?

I’ll answer the latter part first: You do not need to use those. Any 5 Star Meals count for Remy’s quest to make three 5 Star Meals. They just need to be 5 Stars.

As for the former, he wants you to make:
Aurora’s Birthday Cake – 1 Egg, 1 Milk, 1 Fruit of any kind, 1 Wheat, and 1 Sugarcane
Seafood Platter – 4 of any “Seafood” (Specially, Shellfish like Shrimp and Clams) and Lemon

What’s with the gifts you can find with the new tool in the Expansion? They don’t seem to give much more friendship.

Besides being able to decorate with them, they are mainly used for crafting various new items such as new furniture and other things at the new crafting table.

What do I do with the keycard pieces I found in the Monster Inc. Realm?

There are three different ones. Once you have them all, you can repair it at a crafting table. After repairing it, make your way back into the Realm and head to the empty door spot (it would be Door #5) and interact with the keycard slider to the left of where the door would land. A door will drop down and you will earn a chest plus be able to get the final sticky note. (There are 10 total– the other 9 are found around the Realm, just this last one requires a little something special)

    Star Path Overview & Recommendations

The Star Path has set tasks where you can only see 3 or 6 at a time depending on if you unlock premium or not. I’d recommend unlocking Premium right away if you want Premium items, but if not, try your best with just three tasks at a time. They are set in their requirements (not random like Dreamlight Duties) so you need to get through all of them to finish the Star Path.

The reason I recommend doing so right away (unless you really just don’t care for any Premium only items) is because some tasks will require more time. For example, if a quest asks you to remove 30 Night Thorns or give more than 3 favorite gifts to a Character, these are things you may need to wait until rollover to gift or for more spawns. If you start late or get these at the end, it may be very hard to finish due to the waiting nature of some of the tasks.

Is it better to do the 2,500 or 3,300?

It depends on two factors– how badly you want certain items (If you really want some ASAP, it may feel more worth it to get 100 right away) and if you’ve finished the Star Path or not. You do not need to do the 3,300 right away so if you’re undecided, I’d recommend doing the 2,500 only for now. The reason for this is that the first 100 Event Currency you buy will ALWAYS be discounted to 800* instead of 1,000. If you plan to buy any, do not buy less than that 100 for the best deal.

That said, when you completely claim every item in the Star Path, a final tier unlocks where you can trade in 10 Event Currency for 90* Moonstones. If you buy the extra currency when you’re done (or had at any point and thus, have some left over), you will make a profit of 90* Moonstones for every 10, earning an extra 900* which can be useful to keep for future Star Paths. This is the only definite reason I’d recommend the extra currency, but only after you finish.

    * The first Star Path was 4,400 total for the bonus 100 to start with it being 1,600 for your first purchase of 100 extra Star Path Currency and earning 175 Moonstones per 10 Currency. This has been changed as it now costs less for the extra Star Path Currency.

Are there any tasks I can do easier?

Offhand, Flower picking ones you can just pick up a flower, drop it, and pick it up again. But most of the others aren’t really as possible. At best, ones that have the same requirement (IE: Remove # Night Thorns) you may want to try and have at the same time, but due to only being able to see 3-6 at a time, there’s no real way to know ahead of time how many may be in the list of tasks to begin with or when they may even show up due to the randomness of it all.
