Style Savvy: Fashion Forward is the third installment in the Style Savvy series! The game adds lots of new content to the series along with tons of new items and customization options. Despite never being much into fashion myself, I’ve always loved the idea of dress-up and the games continue to be one of my favorite series. While the game isn’t perfect, I feel it adds a lot of things that I hope will become staples in future series–possibly also taking from some stuff not included that had been introduced in the second game. Regardless, I’ll save most of my thoughts to the main entry. There’s a lot to say and the game really is much better than its predecessors so if you enjoyed the previous titles, you should definitely pick this one up too!
Style Savvy: Fashion Forward – A week of play & the first DLC!
So, this is late due to having been in San Francisco the last several days and thus, not here for its arrival, but I’ve really been enjoying it since I got home :D I will say there will probably be more videos than entries as it’s hard to really say a lot so I may do weekly entries? I’ve been playing for roughly a week now and just wanted to share some of the many pictures I took and talk about my playing some more.
Before I start, as it wasn’t really announced, the first DLC actually came out on Thursday!
The Peach Yukata :D To see it in action:
I also recommend checking out my Youtube channel for tons more videos of it too–it’s all in a handy playlist as well!
It is free as well so just pick Add-ons from the main menu and select it! I’m not sure if it will be permanently around or not, but always better to get sooner rather than later.
The differences between the demo and main game are pretty immediate between a few more options in character creation (though, I was sad I had to choose a lighter brown for hair…), a much nicer intro scene…:
And a bit harder of a tutorial along with just generally being a slower pace. You do not unlock the quest that gets the hair salon and make-up stuff available–that does take a bit longer, though, it doesn’t feel slow as in boring–just not as fast as the demo is all.
My outfit wasn’t pink enough though so I’m glad I got to get something pinker pretty quickly:
Also I love this Teddy Bear:
One of my favorite things about the game is that its very dynamic–you walk along the street, posters change, cars move, people move, you can see yourself doing stuff in the scenes….
I’m not sure how exactly the style choices are determined, but I was SO happy when Marble Lily finally showed up.
My shop is now pink enough (or well, as pink as it’ll let me…):
I’m still trying to settle on a good outfit, but here are a few of my favorites so far:
And some photos from fashion shows!:
And finally, some fun photos I took:
It took so long to get my emblem done:
And my favorite make-up sets thus far:
AND I FINALLY GOT THE HAIRSTYLE I WANTED:
I wish there was a better ponytail though :/ They’re either way too over the top or side ponytails or pigtails and bleh.
I also did the Amiibo a bit… I’ll have to do them again for the other colors of the items, but for now here is my Mii in the outfit I made for the Kirby Amiibo:
Speaking of Miis, there is a Mii outfit in the game:
Finally, some obligatory fountain gifs:
I’ve been enjoying the game a lot. Supposedly Fall hits September 1st so that should be exciting. That will get me two more of the colors I need–the rest require Winter with the exception of one that needs Spring. There are also still a lot of make-up kits I need to get…
My review should be up soon :)
Pokemon GO – Update 6! & On the new tracking system
August 8th, 2016
While nothing happened yesterday, I caught a Ponyta today!! It was my first time seeing one and it was a great surprise.
August 9th, 2016
One of my eggs hatched! Just a Tangela though :( I also am only 2 Poliwag away from getting a Poliwrath so keeping my fingers crossed…
August 10th, 2016
Caught enough Poliwag to get a Poliwrath! Yay!
August 11th, 2016
One of the things I’ve noticed is I rarely see Pokemon lately unless near a Pokestop. Normally I’d see several Pokemon while in the car with someone (Don’t worry–I have never been driving in these situations) just along a highway or something, but lately unless there is a Pokestop nearby, the entire area is kind of barren. I ended up only catching a few new Pokemon at the destination despite being out for over 2 hours and that was it.
On a positive note, I did get two new Pokemon though–one of my eggs hatched into Vulpix and I finally caught a Grimer at home.
August 16th, 2016
Not much happened today, but I did get another Gold Medal so yay~
August 18th, 2016
Caught enough Exeggcute for an Exeggcutor! We’re off to California soon for a few days so crossing my fingers for lots of Pokemon :D
While at the airport, I also captured my very first gym!
Once we arrived in San Francisco, there were pretty much Pokestops and plenty of lures everywhere:
Like even the airport was full of them.
I managed to catch a Kabuto and some of my eggs hatched–the 10KM one hatched into Jynx while two 2KM ones hatched into Rattata and Magikarp, and a 5KM hatched into Goldeen. The Jynx was at least new and I’m not too upset with the Magikarp (I can use the candy), but I wish the other two were better.
We’ve been hitting so many Pokestops that our Eggs fill back up fast and our inventories have been maxing out. I’ve started tossing away some potions…
I also got enough Nidoran (Female) for a Nidorina! So yay :D And with my lucky egg evolving, I hit level 20! YAY FOR ULTRA BALLS. <3 August 19th, 2016
So, we went out and about today and there are just so many Pokestops and Lures:
We’re constantly running out of bag space and I’m close to being out of space for Pokemon too. My eggs even fill up right after hatching one… While I didn’t get anything new from eggs sadly (nor any new 10KM eggs), I did manage to catch a Porygon and Machop! Plus I was able to evolve an Eevee into Flareon, an Ekans into Arbok, and a Paras into Parasect so I got some good new Pokemon :)
I also managed to claim one gym twice:
I hope tomorrow goes just as well. The only sad thing today were the three Pokemon we missed–usually because we had just got on the trolley going the other way so we missed Lickitung, Snorlax, and Slowbro :( I hope we might see them tomorrow. Also a Diglett which showed up while at the hotel, but ran away immediately :( So upset…. Now I have 2 more in Seen… I hope we can catch one tomorrow.
I’m super mixed on the new tracking system though. While I don’t know if I agree footprints are the best option, I feel like it takes a lot of the exploration out of it because a lot of people will head to a PokeStop anyway for items… Not to mention I feel like less Pokmon are out and about because of this now too.
August 20th, 2016
Today wasn’t as great as yesterday–I didn’t catch anything new and even my eggs just hatched into extras. I did evolve an Abra into Kadabra at least, but that is bittersweet as I accidentally transferred one too many and now do not have another Abra in preparation for Alakazam… I hope I catch another Abra, Kadabra, or even just an Alakazam soon…
I did, however, take over this gym twice which was fun:
It even let me get my first Training and Gym Battle Medals so yay. Unfortunately, my last Defender bonus had yet to end so I couldn’t get coins for it before it was taken back… I really hate the wait time and wish it rewarded you instantly :/ Some people don’t even get time to get to their Defender Bonus even when their timer is up due to how fast some gyms can go down…
We’ll have a busy day tomorrow though, so I hope I can catch a bunch of Pokemon.
And just before I headed to bed, not only did an Abra show up (Yay!) that I managed to catch, but I managed to grab a gym too:
August 21st
So, today was interesting. I managed to evolve more Pokemon so I now have a Golduck, Jolteon (which finished out the Gen 1 Eeveelutions), and Tentacruel (FINALLY. Now if I could just find a Diglett to match my counts up again…).
I’m also super close to evolving Dratini and Magikarp–I’m only one Dratini away from Dragonair and just 9 Magikarp from Gyarados. Hopefully I can get them while back home.
Also, some lovely gym takeovers:
This will probably be the last weekly log for a while. Right now, much just isn’t happening and there just won’t be much going on. Next entry will be when multiple big updates will happen, but this will probably be the last for a while.
Travel Log: San Francisco Day 4
So, this is the last San Francisco update (as we got home yesterday!) :3 Sunday we tried to head towards Ghiradelli Square and the Pier and just explore around. It was a lot of fun, but I don’t have too much to say (it was a long day, afterall!) so just enjoy some photos instead :P
But before we get to those, here is a short version of the events:
Sadly, we ended up having a late start. The only complaint I have for our room is that the bed was really hard and so it made it hard for us to sleep at times. It was great for naps, but when it came to through the night (and from the desk chairs), we just would usually feel sore and iffy.
Thus, what ended up a wanting to get up early and do a lot ended up getting up late and not getting to do everything as much.
Ghiradelli’s Square was great, but it was as it got later when we got it to the pier that it became iffy. Ignoring a subpar dinner, I was really hoping to catch enough Magikarp to get a Gyarados and due to starting late, we didn’t. I had less than 10 to go left, but I could barely feel my fingers and I was so cold along with my face getting a bit sunburned. I actually think I might be sick now due to it sadly :(
To make things even crazier, when we were packing and getting ready for bed, some random lady kept trying to break into our room. In the end, we had to call hotel security who took care of it, but it made it even harder to sleep and made things a bit messy for when we got up.
The ride to the airport was fine and we got through security fast (and the passport checker even talked to us about Pokemon GO which was fun), but I just felt so tired and now my sleeping is messed up so bleh :( Not the best last days overall.
Regardless, we did get to see some adorable Sea Lions at least so now please enjoy some lovely pictures:
Travel Log: San Francisco Day 3
Today had one clear goal: Go to Japantown. Two friends of ours were coming up to meet us and so we all decided to go together. It’s a really nice mall and I wish I took more pictures of it, but I was mostly distracted by Pokemon GO. We even took over a gym there:
We ate at a really nice Japanese place called Izumiya. All the food was super delicious and they had the Okonomiyaki I actually had in Japan–though, I went with Salmon and it was just super amazing. They also had super good soup and best of all… TAKOYAKI. Which I wish I took a picture of, but I ate it too fast. It was definitely the best Takoyaki I’ve had in the US. For now, please accept this picture of some of my Salmon with some of my rice:
I also tried some Takoyaki at a special booth, but I actually think the Takoyaki at Izumiya was better.
The Vanilla Chai was really good though.
As for bought stuff, we didn’t get too much:
The Cookies were won from a crane game. I probably would have gotten more of the CardCaptor Sakura things too if I realized they were pins as I really like most of the options. I also wish I got a box with the option of ChibiUsa too, but I’m happy I at least got Usagi as she and ChibiUsa are my favorite Sailor Moon characters.
We then headed back to the room and after helping me get Marcie back (I’ll be writing in my Animal Crossing blog about that once I’m back home :3), our friends left. This was a nice shot from our hotel room though:
Sometime later, we decided to have dinner at Myconos Greek Restaurant and it was some of the best Greek Food we had. We got the big combo platter and everything was just amazing–the biggest surprises were things that we normally just found okay were incredibly delicious and we wished there were more:
We had tea and Baklava for Dessert <3
After that, it was back to the room! Tomorrow we're hoping to do quite a bit so I hope we can get it all done before we head home on Monday.
Travel Log: San Francisco – Day 1 & 2
So, we arrived in San Francisco on Thursday and I wasn’t feeling too great–I had pretty bad jet lag mixed with allergies from the weather change (roughly 30 degrees difference) and I was really off–not to mention tired due to not having slept well. On the bright side, there were Pokestops like everywhere–from the airport to the ride to the hotel.
Thus, we decided to mostly take it easy. Our room was upgraded for free and the Front Desk guy was super nice giving us a map, list of places in the area, and a bunch of things to help us with our first visit.
We had lunch and dinner in the restaurant. We shared a Cheese and Charcuterie Board which was great for an appetizer and then I had their Blue Cheese Burger while Mark got a Chicken Wrap. The burger was pretty good, but only places where there were a lot of cheese–it didn’t feel too flavorful otherwise and was just okay where the cheese was a lot less.
For dinner, we decided to just get appetizers and dessert. We shared this… special pizza thing that was really good and chicken fingers which were also tasty. For dessert, he go their special Cookie Skillet that was all caramel and vanilla-y while I got the super amazing brownie with whipped cream and chocolate ice cream. I think the cheese plate and Brownie are my favorites.
Also the Room key is adorable:
We pretty much stayed in the room otherwise, but still had fun thanks to a Pokestop we can reach from our room.
Today (Friday–though, I suppose it is after midnight now so yesterday) we really wanted to do more. Checking with some friends who we will be seeing tomorrow, we decided today we’d try a few places out and maybe go check out the hotel Worlds is taking place at despite only some things being public. I wanted to look at the store anyway (DESPITE NO MEGA AUDINO THINGS. NOT EVEN A MEGA AUDINO BANNER. I SURE HOPE THE AWESOME WINNING MEGA AUDINO DECK HAS GIVEN IT MORE LOVE AFTER THEY DIDN’T EVEN THINK THEY’D NEED A PICTURE) so we figured it’d be a good chance to explore and ride the Trolley.
We started with a Breakfast Buffet in the hotel which was kind of plain compared to lunch and dinner. Then, Mark wanted to watch the special Star Citizen Presentation that was at Gamescom. There is a free fly week too right now so it’s a perfect chance to try the game’s alpha.
Once it was over, after some debate, we decided we’d go to Cookie Love. We picked out 6 different cookies (I think the Campfire one was my favorite) and then went over to Spinnerie for lunch. I had Salmon with Truffle Mashed Potatoes while Mark had Mediterranean-spiced Chicken & Couscous.
After dropping the cookies off in the Room, it was off to the Trolley!
We were heading towards where Worlds was taking place to check out the store.
I kept hearing mixed things if it was public or not, but we could still try to check, right? Thankfully, with a little push, we headed on up with roughly 10 minutes to go. While some stuff was sold out (like the life-sized Charmander Plush, but we wouldn’t be able to get one home anyway), we did pick up the special Pikachu plush and a screen wiper of the nice artwork:
(The Espeon is Mark’s :P)
I love the bag we got everything in too:
On the way out, we also said Hi to Renae and Josh which was nice–I’ve been moderating for them on Twitch for like… 2 years? And they are really nice so it was nice to say Hi and give them hugs and stuff before they headed out to dinner :3
We then headed to the Mall to get some Boba Tea:
It was very tasty <3
After some debate on dinner, we decided to try this Burger place nearby called Super Duper Burgers. It reminded me a bit of Smash Burger (though, with less options) and while the Burgers were good, I feel the Milkshake and Garlic Fries outshined it.
It was then a trolley ride back to the Hotel. Tomorrow is Japantown and hopefully the Disney museum too <3 Anyway, you can check more photos out on my Twitter :) And Pokemon GO-related stuff will be coming up in the Pokemon GO Log 6!
Pokemon GO – Update 5!
July 25th, 2016
Updates are a bit slow right now so depending on how things go, I may turn this into a 2 week update instead of just a weekly one. No eggs have hatched, mostly Doduos being found, and not being able to go out makes it kind of hard to find new things.
I did finally catch enough Horsea for a Seadra though so there’s something at least.
July 27th, 2016
Got the Bronze Psychic Medal! Yay!
July 28th, 2016
Things are still going pretty poorly :( I did use a Lucky Egg to do the Evolution level up thing… I got to level 16 and I am already about 75% to 17. I also got the Gold Medal for 200 Flying Pokemon so yay~ Sadly, still no new Pokemon though…
July 29th, 2016
We went out a bit today, but only managed to hit two PokeStops and no new Pokemon :( On the bright side, I did get a Growlithe at home so there’s another new Pokemon finally! I’m less than 200 away from hitting level 17 so keeping my fingers crossed…
And while no other new Pokemon were gotten, I did hit level 17 so there’s something for today.
July 30th, 2016
There was a new update today! It changed a few things… I hope the footprints will return and that we can see more clothing options in the future. I feel like something is weird with the catching mechanic now, though? I can’t really explain what however… I did finally catch enough Caterpie for a Butterfree though so yay~
August 1st, 2016August 2nd, 2016
Doduo no longer seems to be as common here, thankfully. It seems Goldeen may have replaced it? But it’s still not nearly as bad. I’ve mostly seen Goldeen and Bulbasaur though and actually managed to catch enough Bulbasaur to get an Ivysaur now.
One of my eggs also finally hatched–a Paras. While it’s one I already have, I do still need a Parasect so at least it got me closer to that.
August 3rd, 2016
Saw a Wartortle today. Sadly, despite using my great balls and razz berries, it escaped. I’m super upset about it :/ I’m already getting low on balls (and now have no great balls or razz berries) and this sucks. Plus it’s another seen in comparison to my caught count and it just makes me sad. I need two more Squirtle to be able to evolve one, 6 more Tentacool to be able to evolve one, and 1 more Oddish to be able to evolve one to have my Catch count the same, but I’m just so bummed right now.
I blame its CP which was 600-something :/ I’ll happily take low CP for Pokedex completion. I’m much for interested in finishing my Pokedex than having super powerful Pokemon.
On the bright side, I caught the last Oddish I needed so now I have a Gloom! Yay!
August 4th, 2016
So, while we still have a good amount of Doduo and Dodrio around here, the “nests” have definitely lessened and we actually see a good amount of Bulbasaur and Goldeen now. Thanks to all the Bulbasaur, I managed to get the Silver Grass Badge at least!
August 5th, 2016
I hit level 18~ It’s nice to have some Great Balls again… We also went out today, but didn’t hit many PokeStops so our Pokeball count is still low with the catch rate bug around :(
While I didn’t catch anything new (or manage to hatch any eggs–my husband got a Hitmonchan from one of his though T__T), I did get another egg bringing me back up to 9 and caught enough Venonat to evolve one into Venomoth.
August 6th, 2016
And to finish up this two week log, I caught two Squirtle today which finally gave me enough candy to evolve one into Wartortle! Now I just need to get a Tentacruel or a lot more Tentacool so my Seen and Caught counts match again…
Style Savvy: Fashion Forward – Playing the Demo!
While the game doesn’t come out until later this month (about 2 weeks!), the demo came out on the eShop today. It’s kind of a rushed version of first part of the main game, but it’s a good way to introduce a lot of the aspects of the game. The only things it didn’t show were the Fashion Shows, the Model Photo shoots, and the Design studio (I actually designed my logo ages ago so it’ll be nice to finally create it ingame once the full game is out). If you’d like to see just the video, click here! Otherwise, you can read my thoughts below and see some screenshots!
The game features the most expansive character creation thus far in a Style Savvy with a lot of options to choose from and the Demo doesn’t even show all of them–it actually doesn’t show the hair style/hair color options to start or a starting clothing option. My cute Demo character:
She’ll probably have a different hairstyle and maybe color depending on them in the full game. Plus possibly a different starting outfit too.
Not to mention this has been the largest amount of things to do thus far in a Style Savvy game. with 5 different areas you can focus in (or 6 if you count the Fashion shows as a separate thing, but that’s more of a combination to show off your skills from the other things) and as mentioned, 3 of which you can experience in the demo. Essentially, your character is here on Holiday/Vacation for the Demo which is neat.
One of the coolest things with this game is that it feels very alive–the world doesn’t feel as static as the other ones. It got built up a bit more in the second game, but this game actually shows you interacting at locations and walking around:
Seriously, this is so cute:
You even personally wave good bye to everyone too:
Once I headed to my room, I picked out my first outfit:
I’m not super big on the clothing options in the demo–my favorites were only blue, but I still tried my best to put together something cute and pink.
My favorite part of the room is this teddy bear:
You sadly can’t decorate your room in this game though–only the dollhouses which while it’s a feature I like, I wish it could’ve been alongside decorating your bedroom.
I also got my hair done, though, I may give her bangs in the future:
And of course, besides just clothing, you do get to do hair and make-up:
Sadly, there is no way to save (which makes sense as it’s a very shortened version of the main game) so I’ll have to remember a lot of stuff I did from the demo :P I was hoping we could transfer data, but seeing how they did the demo, I can see why it won’t be that way. Regardless, this has me even more excited for the game. I can’t wait to play it later this month. If you haven’t gotten it yet, I recommend looking into pre-ordering it or picking it up when it comes out! I really can’t recommend it enough. It’s such a fun game and they just keep making it better. Though, please add bedroom customization back in the next game <3
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer – August’s Challenge!
I apologize for the lack of Happy Home Designer :( It’s truly something I want to play more, but things are just kind of a mess right now and until money situations improve, I can’t do them as much as I’d like to. Regardless, I always try to take time for the Monthly Challenge at least.
August Happy Home Challenge – A comfy, cozy, lifestyle.
Rating Address: 0990-5739-319
This challenge didn’t come with any new items and forced me to use the Tent and Candy House of all things so I’m actually super disappointed :( I did what I could, but this was a frustrating challenge.
Pokemon Global Link Photos
With the Global Link for X&Y and ORAS closing in the next few months for whatever Sun & Moon’s version will be like, I wanted to at least archive the photos I took. I wish I could save record of the medals and log-book too though :(
Hopefully I can think of some way to save the log book and medals. In the meantime, I’m going to prepare to trade all my PokeMiles for Rare Candy and PP Up and maybe a few Ability Capsules.
