Disney Dreamlight Valley – It’s time for the Laugh Floor update!

The Laugh Floor update is officially here! In all honesty, I don’t have any strong connection really with Monsters Inc., though, I still appreciate the characters and will always take new realms. Before I got into all the Monsters Inc. stuff, there were a handful of other things I wanted to check out. And of course, if you prefer videos, you can check out my playthrough of the new update over on Youtube. As an aside, I know people are upset I haven’t been streaming the updates– it’s a combination of updates not always coming out at the best time for me (I actually had a lot of other stuff to do today so there is a lot of pausing in the video that I mostly managed to pause the recording for) and being sick a lot recently combined with that I just don’t think it’s fun to watch me give like 100+ flowers to characters to level them up which I can at least not record when just… well, recording. With that said, let’s get on to update stuff!

First of all, the mail with the the community gifts came (and it seems our mail got a bit of a makeover in general to be more organized)! Still looking forward to the Critter… Anyway, due to my love of fountains, I ended up replacing the Figment topiary I had with the Partner statue. If I didn’t already have a nice Figment Picnic area, I may have left it, but since I already have a very nice Figment place, I feel this works pretty well.

I then made my way to see Scrooge’s shop adjustments and uh… It wasn’t as much as I expected. The top floor is revamped and there is a place exclusively for wall items at least which is nice.

The biggest perk for me in Scrooge’s Shop update though is that we can now order up to 1,000 items a day. I’m so happy. The 25 limit has been so incredibly frustrating and I usually hit it pretty quickly during decorating sessions. This is so much easier to work with.

Speaking of decorating, I loved so many items from this Star Path and due to various personal stuff, I’m not sure how much I’ll actually be able to do quest-wise (as it is, I heard this one is longer than ever… :/), so I actually bought a bunch of points to get stuff right away because there were so many items I adored. The small fountain, the Arches, the Plushies, the Swan Boat, the floating Lanterns, and the Rosy Cloud Turtle (though, I’ll admit the ‘Cloud’ looks more like a fancy seashell to me, but you can see it wisping around if you zoom in) especially, but there’s so many other cute things as well.



I think it’s going to be hard to beat this Turtle for me right now as my top favorite Critter, but we’ll have to see…

After placing some more things around my house, I went and took my new DreamSnaps entry. It’s… very much not my kind of look, but I think it came out okay. Good thing I had this room set up in the Haunted Mansion.

I then did some adjustments over in the Forest of Valor with moving in some buildings. I had to buy the Snuggly Duckling– besides my love for Tangled, it genuinely is just really cute? I plan to try and decorate the main room as close to the actual Snuggly Duckling as possible, but I’m not quite sure what to do with the other three rooms. Maybe just general Tangled themed? I also ended up picking up the Belle pack– it’s the first bundle to not have a questline attached to it which, from an exclusivity standpoint, is kind of for the best– I don’t think story stuff (or things like Ursula’s transformation) should be locked to a premium bundle, but honestly, everything from it was pretty cute. I especially loved getting Belle’s favorite Library which is across the street from the Snuggly Duckling and nextdoor to the cottage:


I also ended up moving Gaston’s house over. Right now, it’s across from Venellope. I kind of like the position of his so I may try and move Vanellope over/somewhere else. I need to figure it all out, really.

Regardless, with this done, it was finally time to check out the Monsters Inc. stuff.

The general plotline here is that everyone is missing except for Sulley and Mike and this takes place shortly after the original movie’s ending. After disguising as a monster, we were able to enter the Laugh Floor and essentially pretend to be the new intern.

My little ID card I made with the resources on the official Twitter— I might make one with the other ID template too. Or try to make a nicer one in general.

If it was possible to actually save full appearances, I might’ve experimented with some of the new skin tones and contacts and stuff.

Anyway, after taking care of their coffee orders, Mike headed into the first door, but there was a power outage and thus, we needed to find some fuses and get the plugs set back up in order to get him back before he was discovered.

After bringing up Dreamlight Valley, Mike wanted to have the biggest record for making kids laugh so he wanted to do one final hoorah of three rooms before they headed to the Valley and thus, we were tasked with getting Keycards. Along the way, due to my need to examine everything, I also found broken pieces of a keycard in addition to the various sticky notes around. We’ll talk more about that later.

Regardless, our job wasn’t quite done yet. There was no intel with the keycards so we were tasked with checking each kid’s bedroom to see what kind of things would make them laugh.

Anyway, after helping out Mike, it was finally time to make his and Sulley’s place in the valley. Sulley showed up first as Mike wanted his photo taken for the Monster of the Month board before he headed on his way.

Before I made my way back to Mike though, I made sure to repair a certain keycard… Using it on the fifth door’s panel summoned a door with the 10th Sticky Note and a chest. It wasn’t the biggest secret, but still a neat secret nonetheless!

I then went and took Mike’s picture, and he made his own way to the valley.

I decided to work on Sulley’s friendship quests first (since he moved in first), but I absolutely relate to Mike’s plight. Allergies are the biggest nemesis x-x

Sulley’s friendship questline had three fully different things which each had their own photo spot surprisingly. I can’t think of any other friendship quest that had multiple like that off the top of my head. The first was setting up Monster Movie night again. After a little quest to find the video tape, we had a cute scene. Kind of surprised Minnie wasn’t there though.

I also couldn’t help but decorate a little more… I love the lanterns so much.

Sulley’s next quest was a Villager of the Month event to get people helping out more in the village. Of course, it didn’t really go as planned… Mike wanted help making a dish to give to Sulley, Ursula wanted help making perfumes for various villagers, and Donald… Donald tried to fake himself picking up trash and we mainly had to do it.

So unsurprisingly, we were the Villager of the month.


Of the three actually trying for Villager of the Month, I think Ursula’s gift was the nicest, even if her motives weren’t exactly pure.

Sulley’s next quest was trying to teach Vanellope. While his lemon clock plan didn’t work, his arcade machine sure did. I was kind of sad we couldn’t actually play it though.

His final friendship quest was a Scavenger Hunt. While we didn’t directly participate, we ended up winning anyway since we had to help each participant along the way. It was honestly pretty cute. Most of it was easy– the only thing that threw me off is the third clue was further away from where the second clue lead than I expected.


And then it ended with this adorable scene with a very cute handmade clay Sulley.

Meanwhile, Mike’s questline, after setting things up to help prevent his allergies and get over his stress (plus finding his contact lens…), was essentially trying to introduce things to the valley from perfumes and meals that only monsters could love followed by trying to do a comedy show that Vanellope tried to take over/have them be equals instead of her opening for him. It was… okay I guess?


For everyone upset about Mike constantly still being in frame though with most official stuff, they’ll be happy to see the billboard does exactly wanted.

And with that, I was done! Which meant it was time to get back to decorating. With the fixes to things on tables, I made a few adjustments to the museum and my character’s bedroom.

I then decided to work on Floor 5 which I’m essentially labeling the Cozy Floor. I was honestly really proud with how things came out.



At the time, I didn’t really have inspiration for the final room, so I ended up working on some more things outside for a bit.

After some more thinking though, I did finally come up with what to do with the last room on Floor 5. I’m pretty happy with it.

I then just made a few other minor adjustments to things.

With that, I’ve finished most of my update goals! I’m likely going to try and work on the Snuggly Duckling and Library houses, though, they will likely get a video quite a while before I make a post talking about that. I’m pretty sure what I want to do with each so we’ll see how it goes!

Otherwise, it’s back to the memory grind… And doing Star Path stuff to get some of those moonstones I used back. But yeah, I had fun! Looking forward to the next update and keeping an eye out in case any other bonus stuff pops up in the meantime…

Disney Dreamlight Valley – Patch Note Thoughts and another small interlude

The Patch Notes for the Laugh Floor update came out yesterday! This post will mainly be my thoughts on them, but also a few more things I’ve done recently. Obviously, with a post just last week, I don’t have too much to add, but I’ve still been working on some things ahead of the update on Wednesday. I figured it was more likely to release last week, but if I realized, I probably would’ve held off on that post until today ^^; Oh well…

Anyway, let’s get started with the patch notes!

Obviously, the main thing for the update is the new realm for Monsters Inc. that will have Mike Wazowski and Sulley. It seems Boo won’t be part of this just yet (though, in her defense, I don’t really know if she should have a house by herself…), but it feels like most realms have had side characters, regardless of how prominent, kind of MIA right now.

I actually really love the Realms and I kind of wish more characters would be available through them over random biome quests. I just really like getting to be part of these worlds (pun not intended) and it’s a bit more fun for me, especially as my island is packed and not the easiest to search around. I really wish it was the main way characters were introduced, but maybe that’s just me.

This update will also contain two of the longest-awaited Community Goal rewards: The Partners Statue and the Dreamlight Armor outfit. I may use the former if I can find room, but I don’t see myself really using the latter. That said, my most anticipated community reward still hasn’t come yet: The new animal companion! Hopefully we’ll get some updates on that soon considering it’s supposed to be community designed.

I actually didn’t really have any thoughts about the Star Path not expecting to really care for anything, but the image they showed on Twitter changed my mind.

The plushies on the blanket, the Lady and the Tramp table, the Swan Boat, the Pillars, AND THAT TURTLE… There’s a lot I really want to get ASAP and can already see how I would use so many of these items, especially as I work on decorating Eternity Isle as well.

I’m really curious about the Belle Starlight Bundle. It doesn’t sound like a questline thing like some of the other Premium Bundles have been (or if it is, they didn’t mention it), but I really want to see the contents of it. This also has made me realize we haven’t seen a trailer or anything yet…

I’m also really excited for the Scrooge’s update, but I feel like the patch notes don’t really share anything beyond what has already been teased on what to expect about “increased offerings”. Either way, it’s still something to look forward to, especially if new items are added as well.

I still have mixed feelings about how the Premium Shop works as a whole (I do not like the whole rotation thing), but I am excited old Star Path items are coming back for those who missed out.

As for bug fixes, the big standout for me is this one: “Fixed an issue in which some objects couldn’t be placed on applicable furniture.” There’s been a few items that have very oddly not been able to be placed on furniture so hopefully this fixes it.

With that all said and done, let’s move onto my own little progress! Like last time, I’m mainly just working on memories and prepping for whatever new things may be included in the upcoming update. I had recently made a wishlist though and thanks to friends and other nice people, I’ve more or less knocked everything out. I need to figure out what I’m still missing, but crosschecking lists honestly gives me a headache after a while with so many items… I really wish there was something easier than just trying to look through the Wiki especially when not everything is in the same order (and things keep moving around…).

Regardless, it’s been nice to get various rooms a bit fancier.




I also managed to get a few more memories I actually really wanted to get done so I want to say my memory room is more or less complete now unless a memory I like more gets added and/or I think of more stuff that could fit in there.

I still have memories left to get for Gardening, Digging, Feeding Critters, and Cooking. Not really surprised I managed to knock out mining and fishing first. I feel like Digging and Feeding Critters will take the longest– the former as I just try to avoid doing it altogether and tend to keep the same few plots around and the latter because it’s limited to how many times you can do it a day. The only reason gardening may get done sooner is because foraging counts.


To finish this off, my most recent DreamSnaps picture plus part of the conversation between Gaston and EVE that makes me laugh every time.

Anyway, I’m sure we’ll have another entry up for the update very soon (whether it’s the same day or the next day will depend on how long it takes me to get through the content) so I hope you look forward to it plus a new DDLV video over on my youtube as well!

What I hope sticks around from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and what I really hope doesn’t

Inspired by Jeff’s Youtube video, I kind of wanted to make my own post. If you do not know who Jeff is, he’s makes Animal Crossing blogs (for every Animal Crossing) including for some other games as well. We first became aware of one another during the Tomodachi Life and Animal Crossing: New Leaf eras and he’s one of the very few AC Content Makers I follow. I highly recommend his stuff and I was even one of the participants in his recent Zelda Obstacle Course, even though I did a terrible job because I uh, forgot most of the controls, but it was still a lot of fun!:

Anyway, Jeff is really cool! Definitely check him out if you aren’t aware of him already, though, honestly, I’ll be surprised if you’re not.

With that all said, let’s get to the main part of the post– Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This was… At least for me, in some ways, my second least favorite AC by the end, only beaten out by City Folk. That isn’t to say it didn’t have good features, but a lot of it really grated down on me. You know when you play a game and there’s a few annoyances at times, but those annoyances just… keep poking up over and over again until it overlaps everything else? That’s kind of how it felt.

And it honestly kills me. I know some of these will definitely be an unpopular opinion, but Animal Crossing is a very special game series for me. I have really fond memories from the original onward and playing with friends. Sending gifts with long codes, playing alongside family members, and even learning more about Japanese culture as I looked up items I didn’t recognize (which is one of the things that really bummed me out with Wild World when they literally removed some).

Something I genuinely worry about is that a lot of these features will be considered a must or requirement because of New Horizon’s sale statistics, but a lot of that came due to it releasing right as a pandemic hit and not all those players will be sticking around. Honestly, if the next Animal Crossing is essentially just New Horizons 2.0, I might cry and I just… really don’t want to see one of my favorite series become something I won’t pick up anymore.

So, with that said, let’s get on to the list. As always, this is my opinion, and it’s okay if you disagree, just remember to be respectful about it. I’ll be going in the order features got brought up (to the best of my ability anyway). In this same sense, I will be grouping some features as well, but all features will be in bold as will if I’d like for them to return or not. Anything I don’t mention, such as Stretching, is a take it or leave it kind of thing– would be nice, but I don’t have any strong feelings about them.


  • Customizing at the start and whenever you’d like
  • – This is something I definitely want to see return— I don’t mind the quiz, I think it’s still pretty cute to maybe even define your character a bit, and I mean, I got the face I usually wanted without even trying, but I really liked being able to just… get the appearance I wanted right away including the hair color and if I ever did want to change (or needed to), it’d be easy to do so.

    I just, seriously I’m begging here, please give us more ponytails/up-dos. There’s so many different long hairstyles or half up/down that they do and just, make ponytail versions of some of them?? This isn’t unique to Animal Crossing– I can think of so many Japanese games that have one ponytail option and it’s usually this straight one or maybe with a slight flip and like, lots of wavy/curly haired ones exist and they are frequently only acknowledged for pigtails or side tails and it drives me nuts. While Fashion Dreamer also lacks ponytails, I will give it credit for at least recognizing you can have a ponytail still exist and not completely disappear just because you’re wearing a hat. That is something else I’d really like to see Animal Crossing improve on.

    Either way, just having the customization upfront and being changeable whenever is a great step. As is letting every outfit be unisex so everyone can just dress and style how they want to. Hopefully all these things will return in the next AC.

  • Southern Hemisphere option
  • – Honestly, there’s not really any downsides to this and I think it’s nice giving people more options to play closer to their own seasons or the opposite if they feel like something different. I hope this will be a mainstay in the future.

  • Deserted Island Setting and Terraforming
  • – I wasn’t completely against it from the start, but in the long run, I just did not enjoy starting from scratch. I liked coming into an existing town and improving it. There’s a reason I really enjoyed a lot of features with Happy Home Designer where you really just got to add in and customize buildings. I felt being Mayor in New Leaf was much more enjoyable and a good balance of new and old features than being the Representative in New Horizons.

    While I know some people enjoyed really flattening out their island going all in on terraforming, I honestly did not really care for terraforming in the long run and wouldn’t mind seeing it go as well as the Deserted Island, even with my love of waterfalls. If it did show back up, I think I’d prefer it to be more specific over completely open (IE: A cliff face and you can choose to add flowers or a waterfall but not completely reshape the cliff).

    What I’d prefer is, well, we’ll talk about that in the next bullet point.

  • Placing people’s houses and buildings/utilities (such as bridges/stairs)
  • – Easily one of my favorite features in New Horizons. This seems like such a no brainer to stick around and feels like being Mayor can still work that in. That said, even though I’d like this feature to stay, I would like to see improvements to it.

    For example, if you want to move something over slightly, you need to not only wait a day which is very annoying, but also place it somewhere else first. This isn’t fun. I’d much rather see a kind of overhead thing similar to the Sims/MySims where you could see an overhead view and move as you’d like once you unlock something. In a similar sense, if terraforming did come back in some way, I would much rather see it as a kind of compromised version where you can move/adjust parts of your existing map (IE: You could move your river slightly to the left) over being able to just completely destroy and re-do everything. For what terraforming was, I think I’d rather see it as its own separate area/option where anyone could make whatever custom area, they want over destroying the original island, similar to how New Leaf had museum rooms you could customize on the second floor.

    As an aside, we literally got an overhead view option with decorating— letting us choose between doing that or doing things manually with everything would be amazing.

  • Crafting, Cooking, and Farming
  • – I’m grouping them all together because I feel like they’re all part of the same problem and as everyone may be very well aware I hate crafting so it’s no surprise I want to see all three of these go. I don’t necessarily mind cooking, but it just felt like an extension for crafting and we could… just have food items like usual. I get that they gave a reason to eat, but that’s what the fruit trees are for. It just felt silly.

    In the same sense, Animal Crossing doesn’t need crafting or farming and it just felt like they were added because nearly every simulation game has been doing it. In a way, rather than make it seem like AC is “keeping up”, it made the game feel more generic. Farming, like cooking, just doesn’t really add much of anything. Sure, it’s an additional way to earn bells, but I feel like there are already more than enough ways and the time/space it required just wasn’t worth it for that purpose. It just added more of an appearance-type of thing to those who wanted a farm and again, just make it a static item then.

    The game feeling this need to force crafting in also ended up being the core reason we got one of the worst features in New Horizons…

  • Tool Durability
  • – If there’s one thing I feel almost everyone agrees one, it’s that nobody likes this. The axe was annoying enough where it would break until you got gold, but they took away the specialness of golden tools by making them break too. Honestly though, there’s just no good reason to have this— the golden tools were fine as an achievement that you finished certain tasks and adding the durability served no purpose beyond making you dependent on crafting which not everyone liked. I never want to see tools breaking again after this game. It’s ruined a lot of fun for people.

  • Tool Ring and the Vaulting Pole
  • – Of course, not everything with the tools was bad. The tool ring was really handy for switching between tools and I would like to see that back at least. Now if we can just also have a dedicated inventory for tools as well…

    Similarly, at least some tools didn’t break and the Vaulting Pole was pretty fun, plus it gave you a way to access parts of your Island that maybe you didn’t want a bridge to or before you could afford to build one. I would like to see both of these return, though, I still want a town with bridges already.

  • All New Furniture Sets
  • – This was dumb. Some of the new sets were nice or even upgrades of previous sets, but decades of items were essentially thrown to the curb which… really sucked. While I wouldn’t mind seeing sets return, I do not want it at the expense of so many existing items and want to see the old sets back as well.

    The fact that Pocket Camp has a bigger item library of both new and old sets alongside better interaction (with the only downside being that the Villager can’t interact much with stuff too) completely blows my mind. Don’t toss out everything good just to replace it. I’m still upset about the Princess Top being changed to blue for a new set as well.

    That said, while I dislike the replacement of sets (even if I genuinely do like some new items and would still like to see new items return, just old items as well), I did like being able to place any item outside and hope that feature will continue to come. It was a great expansion of the Public Works system and let you have a lot more freedom with decorating, especially with so many items that just work better outside in the first place.

  • Drip Feed Updates
  • – Another frustrating decision that I do not want to see back. I don’t even time travel and this was still disappointing to see. In general, I’m not a fan of drip feed updates and while MMOs are expected and the trend of Early Access releases (likely to help continue to fund the game through release) as more and more Indie Games release, there’s just no excuse for a mainstream produced game to have it. I’m very much in the department of I’d rather see the game take more time than be released lacking content just to slowly add it in overtime.

    I know some people enjoy that kind of thing as it gives them a reason to check back, but ignoring that Animal Crossing is a real-time game which kind of encourages you to check in anyway, I much prefer the feeling of being done with a game than having to constantly check in especially when the addition is just something that has long since been a feature in the game series now and is just being added back in instead of being there at the start (like Brewster’s).

    That said, I don’t necessarily mind the expansions such as Welcome Amiibo for New Leaf and Happy Home Paradise for New Horizons, I still would prefer to wait for the game to have everything, but an expansion years later is a lot more fun than the drip feed update where half of it is stuff we already had in previous games.

  • Nook Miles Stamps
  • – This was the hollow replacement to Badges in New Leaf and I genuinely feel like it missed the mark of why the badges worked and felt fun. I’m not saying all the badges were great, but where the badges felt like an achievement just for slowly making your island better, Nook Miles Stamps were largely about grinding as much as possible— they didn’t feel rewarding about being acknowledged doing something you loved and enjoyed. Just like a challenge like a lot of other game achievements nowadays. While I wouldn’t mind seeing badges return, I don’t want Nook Miles Stamps to, at least not in the way they were done.

  • Fences and Pathing Tool
  • – These were just really nice options to continue customizing your island. There’s no good reason for them to leave and I hope we’ll continue to see both in the future. I hope they will continue to have even more options and colors too.

  • Autosave
  • – I actually really like having Autosave in games as long as you can also manually save as well (as I will save manually all the time). While it can have its downsides (I have a game where my save is bugged and there’s nothing I can do besides going to an earlier autosave state), losing my game data is one of my biggest fears and having had issues where there’d be a short or we’d lose power all of a sudden (or maybe the battery suddenly dying), I’d much rather know my game is okay than risk losing anything. The one downside of this though is that you can’t really test out how something looks and easily reset if you don’t like it.

    There are a few things I’ve done where I ended up really disliking it and slowly had to change things back and that wasn’t fun. Having a way to preview things or a decorating mode you can enable and disable would be nice to be able to test things more without Autosave really causing any issues.

  • Housing Exterior Customization & Room Sizes
  • – While there were certainly cute options and being able to have things to hang on the door again was nice and I would like to see everything we did get return in some way, but I want to see it closer to New Leaf in the long run with more house styles and bigger rooms. The Room Size differences for the upper floor and basement were neat, but not only would I want it to be an optional thing, I still think every room should be able to be at least 8×8. Getting smaller side rooms really sucked.

  • Housing Interior Customization for you and your villagers
  • – Where things lacked in the Exterior, we had a lot of neat things with the Interior adjustments between being able to squeeze through furniture, adding certain shining effects, the choice between overhead and classic style with decorating, and tons more options to really customize your house that came with Happy Home Paradise. We even could decorate our Villager’s Houses which let us fix them up and even adjust our starter Villager’s houses to their actual unique house looks. I really hope all of these features will return.

  • Villagers Commentating
  • – Another one that is a bit complicated… I don’t hate this, but the dialogue was too repetitive, it made their normal dialogue even more repetitive, and comments just… didn’t vary enough in general. I think it’s a cute idea, but was executed terribly and I’d rather see Villagers ACTUALLY interact with items more than just commenting on them. One thing I give Pocket Camp a lot of credit is that it’s managed to give Villagers a lot more personality through memories and their little bios even when their personality types overlap. This is something we also got to see a bit with New Leaf’s April Fool’s Day event. Overall, though, unless some big changes are made next time, I’d rather see it go as I feel it took away more than it added.

  • Some Expressions solely being tied to specific personality types
  • – I hate this and really hope they don’t do this again and just give us back Dr. Shrunk or something. As I got all my Dream villagers pretty quickly, I never managed to get some personalities to best friends first (nor did I realize this issue at the time), let alone even have all the ones I needed ACTUALLY on my island. This was such a weird change to make and while it could be cute as an option to get them, I don’t think it should be the only way to as not everyone wants to move out their villagers in the first place.

  • Mystery Island Tours
  • – These were really fun. I liked finding things, seeing new Villagers, and while I don’t think they work as a replacement for Club Tortimer, I still think they are a nice feature in their own right. I would genuinely like to see them back, especially if we have more islands like the May Day mazes.

  • New and returning Villagers
  • – PLEASE KEEP THEM AND CONTINUE BRINGING MORE BACK. Both regular and special! I can’t say enough how happy it made me to see so many familiar faces. I hope that continues. We only had a small percentage of new characters in New Horizons and honestly, while I love many of them (and all the designs are still neat), I think that’s the better approach than constantly making tons of new villager designs at this point. I’d like to see more focus in developing the villagers more, but honestly, I just want to see all these old faces continue showing up.

  • Region-free
  • – While I am grateful for the new friendships I made thanks to the regional differences in New Leaf (huge shout outs to Zed, Ruu, and Mika), I actually really liked being able to experience those holidays and things personally now in my own game. I hope we’ll continue to see all kinds of different holidays and learn more about different cultures, but I also hope that they will do more than just throw an item up that you can order from the catalog.

  • Big Overhead Storage
  • – While putting things in dressers is still fun, the large global storage was really nice especially with so many items in the game. I definitely hope that will continue to be a thing.

  • Storyline
  • – While there has always been some semblance of story, the general gist has just been paying off your loans and making a perfect town with just additions in City Folk that expanded into character’s back stories (With the only real extra information we’ve gotten on regular villagers being through New Leaf’s April Fool’s Day and Pocket Camp) and New Horizons is kind of the first to really put the story as a full main thing. My only issue is the storyline they chose– I like the idea of a story, but feel it was executed poorly by acting like Nook and Isabelle have never met K.K. before. I think the end cutscene was still cute and that’s not my issue, just the suddenly never knowing each other. I wish we had more continuity, or the lines were altered a bit. I just hate when things show proper character development and then either try to retcon or change it to fit a narrative *coughPokemoncoughAshcough* and I would like to see a storyline that takes more concepts and makes the character’s grow and feel like their pasts still matter.

  • And to finish this off, the biggest thing for me… VILLAGERS NOT MOVING WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT!!!
  • – I can’t say enough how much this meant to me. It also means I can continue to check into New Horizons whenever without worrying about losing a Villager I really adore. I don’t even want to consider a new AC without this. If this doesn’t come back, I will cry. Literally the only way I think it could be better is having some kind of option to stop specific villagers from asking altogether.

Honestly, writing this all out has really made me want to poke back in… Maybe we’ll get to that HHP Stream sooner rather than later, as long as I start feeling better anyway…

Disney Dreamlight Valley – Interlude before the teased update releases…

So, if you follow DDLV’s official socials or are in their Discord, you may already be aware of the recent teasings of the Monsters Inc. realm coming in the next update which, if they are teasing like this, will probably be out very soon. Going by their Roadmap, this fits in with the “Late Winter” update. The next update will be “Early Spring” with a “vibrant new villager” and Late Spring will feature what is likely a Mulan realm. In-between those two should be the next update for the Rift in Time Expansion.

I had actually been planning to finally try decorating Eternity Isle, but with the update being teased, even if it won’t be the Expansion’s update, I figure I’ll just wait and see even if there isn’t much besides the Monsters Inc. Realm and a new Star Path. I just hope I won’t have to re-do too much once the DLC update happens.

Moving on, here’s what I’ve been up to since my last DDLV update! But to be honest, it hasn’t really been much. As per usual, I’m mainly just popping on to check Scrooge’s Shop and take care of the Dreamsnaps.

I did manage to finally get the last of the fragments I needed to craft all the new recipes.

I also finally checked out multiplayer, though, the shards ended up being glitched… Thankfully, it’s since been fixed at least.


As for the Dreamsnaps, I’ve been doing my best where I can, but I don’t know if they are actually any good.




I did level up again at least.

More excitingly, I’ve had some luck with Scrooge’s Shop and gotten a few things I was pretty excited about.

While I forgot to take a picture of them in Scrooge’s shop. I also finally got the Grand Doors! Sure, I wish they were a different color, but they definitely bring a lot of rooms together now either way.



I haven’t quite decided where to use the fireplace just yet (and I still need to figure out a use for the backroom on the 4th floor), but I put the Mermaid Wallpaper in the background. I kind of like them together, though, I wish the pink was a bit lighter.

The only other thing I’ve been doing really sporadically on and off is trying to work on memories. The spawn rate is so low and it’s rather grindy, so it’s not really something I’d want to record. Though, maybe that last room could work as a memory room? Even if there’s still a lot I need to get… There are 24 memories I really like with three others that may look nice so I guess I can see if I have any ideas for it.

I just wish doubles weren’t a thing until you no longer needed memories from that category, or at worst, just memory colors you don’t need anymore can be coins, but getting one that could be one you need and usually getting coins is heartbreaking.

In the end, I did decide to try and turn that last room on the 4th floor into some type of memory room– I might still adjust it (and I mean, I need more memories I want to display as it is) and change some things, but I think it’s kind of nice.

Fashion Dreamer – Fair #3: Classic Fair!

The latest Fair is here and this time, it’s Steampunk/Vintage themed. I’ll mainly be talking a bit about my thoughts and sharing my screenshots, but you can check out my full playthrough of the event over on Youtube as well.

For the most part, this definitely had more items I was interested in. One thing I was especially excited for were the addition of mary-jane flats!! They’re some of my favorite shoes. Now just give me a version with a ribbon on them as well.

There were some other cute dress patterns too from the 10 new patterns added (which… I really wish we could organize stuff by newest because searching through things is rough when you can’t even unlock everything)…

…but as for the event itself, I only really liked the dress:

I might eventually make the shirt if I can decide on a neat color scheme (it’s times like these where I hate that it’s one time only for these patterns -_-) and I did make the hat, but that’s it. I don’t really care for any of the tights. I do wish the cage could be turned off though or that there was some kind of lace overlay over it– I just don’t like how the cage part looks on the dress. It feels kind of silly to me.

The furniture was all really neat, but with the limited Showroom space, I really couldn’t use most of it. I had to adjust a few things and remove one of the items from the first event to fit the new shelf (I just love rocks and crystals so much):

The event also introduced two new poses– a Marionette pose that I… really do not like (it creeps me out a bit) and this Aye Aye Captain pose which is cute but I probably won’t really use either:

Despite feeling a bit underwhelmed with the poses, all the new Photo Egg backdrops are really cute even if I’m not much of a photo person.



In general, the Classic Fair felt a lot quicker/smoother than the previous fairs which I really liked. I hope future ones will feel similar.

Fashion Dreamer – Finishing my Goals (well, until the next update)

As some of you may know, I can be quite the completionist. While sometimes that can be hyper-specific than overall, especially for games that seem to think only the most hardcore speedrunners care about completion, it’s still the way I tend to enjoy games.

Because of that, from the very start, my long-term goals in Fashion Dreamer have been:

  • Hit Master Rank
  • Hit Level 200 Brand Rank
  • Unlock every item from NPC Muses

One goal you may notice isn’t there however is unlocking every clothing item with Keys. That is because it is currently not possible to earn enough keys in-game to unlock everything. As more and more events happen, maybe we’ll eventually get to that point, but until then, I’m settling on having at least gotten the Brand Rank. The other issue is that the gachapon is currently horribly unbalanced and that’s a whole other issue. For now, I’m content with having been able to unlock all the things I wanted. Similarly, while it’d be nice to make each pattern at least once, ignoring gachapon issues, the item box can only hold so many items and it’d just be a waste of space.

The only other thing I might do is buy all the Furniture. I can afford to and have everything unlocked from maxing out the Brand Level, but it’s just a lot to click through. I’ll likely just do it in parts, but as long as the Showroom size isn’t increased, it’s unlikely I’ll even use anything anyway.

Regardless, while I managed to get the first two done pretty quickly, getting all the unlocks from NPC Muses was a bit more complicated. And while I wouldn’t use them too much (with a few exceptions for eye/hair color– how I wish there was a better ponytail…), besides the patterns, I also wanted to get all the Photo Poses, Make-up, and other Physical Appearance-related stuff as well.

The main issue is, outside of NPCs having Cocoon preferences (and honestly, it doesn’t always feel that way), there is little you can do to better your odds for who to show up unless you still haven’t unlocked everyone. The game caps at five brand-new NPCs introduced so if you avoid talking to any of them, even if you get the “Introduce to a Friend” unlock, no new NPCs will show up until you’ve spoken to one of those five (they will show up once you have). This means the game will have a smaller pool to pull from. Of course, that will only work for so long.

And as per usual, my way isn’t always the easy way, and I was much too excited to meet every new character to even consider that option. Thus, I was rolling through 200 NPCs and even if some NPCs supposedly had a higher chance to show up due to the cocoon choice, it was still a lot of rolling through NPCs. What I found helped was trying to make 1 Star outfits (IE: Outfits that didn’t have any cohesive color schemes and didn’t match their wants) as they seemed to show up less if they weren’t ready to level. Despite this, it still took several hours.

When I finally managed to get the final unlocks I had been missing, I realized I was actually still a bit short. I had gotten all the item/appearance/pose unlocks, yes, but I hadn’t gotten all the Muse Book photos. There’s a whole slew of Muses where their “final unlock”, Muse Book photo-wise anyway, is getting an item styled by you, so I had to re-find a whole bunch of Muses I thought I was done with which took several more hours.

But once that was finished, I was truly 100% done. I’m all set until future updates bring new things and now I can go back to actually putting effort into making outfits for NPCs again. Supposedly they do cap out at 99 so that may be my next goal, though, done at a more leisurely pace as I work on future Fairs and stuff.

What I’d want from a Pokemon Open World Game

In light of a lot of recent things combined with the fact that Pokemon Legends: Arceus really didn’t jive with me as much as it did for others (at least partially due to me not being a fan of Monster Hunter or the Survival genre), it’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot. Despite attempts at more Open World with the Wild Areas in Sword/Shield and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet as a whole, I think most people agree that it’s still been rather lacking.

I’ve mentioned before how my dream Pokemon game would be a kind of Pokemon MMO where you could travel around (and do an entire journey) with your friends with instanced story parts and being able to travel every region. A lot of that is still true, though, maybe more just being able to share a map with friends and any other players could be more like how they are in Super Mario Wonder– seeing some other trainers around and maybe being able to place signs for tips and secrets. I just think there’s a lot they could work with at this point, especially seeing how they did experiment with Open World in the Pokemon series twice now.

  • No Survival-based mechanics, or at least make it optional. Look, if you could truly die in Pokemon, there is a lot of reasons we should and Ash would have died so many more times in the Anime than the small amount he does. I think if they did still want to include it, it should be an optional thing (maybe even chosen per character over a whole world rule) if Nintendo actually put in difficulty levels, but if not, I just don’t think it’s enjoyable. It’s part of what made PLA really unfun for me because I couldn’t actually enjoy all the Pokemon around because I was too busy running for my life. I’m also just… awful at dodging. I think anything related to food should just be buff-related, whether for yourself and/or your Pokemon, kind of like how curry and sandwiches work. Similarly, feeding and taking care of your Pokemon may make them happier or again, add a buff thing, but it shouldn’t be a situation where Pokemon can actually get sick or starve or other issues.
  • Crafting should be optional. In general, while there is the whole Apricorn thing, there is no reason to not just… let people buy things if they’d prefer. Or as a compromise, once something is made once, they can buy it from then after if they prefer over crafting. Same for resource gathering.
  • A Standard Base and a Moveable Base (maybe multiple?). One of the things I really adored was the Secret Base in Gen 3. Gen 4’s version in the Underground was okay, but honestly, just didn’t feel as interesting. While we’ve gotten various “places” in other games, the customization was relatively light (IE: Earning trophies in Black/White, changing colors/some appearances of things in Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet with the Campsite and Picnic set-ups respectively). I think being able to have a main base, in whatever the starting town is, that you can expand and customize. Besides being able to decorate with various things (or even just switching out options/colors like wallpaper, rugs, certain decor items, etc.), maybe you can add on a ranch or a kitchen or a healing machine, etc. Similarly, bringing back the campsite from Gen 8, being able to add on and decorate inside your tent and stuff would be neat. There’s so much that can be done to really make things seem yours over a super bleak plain dorm room.
  • As mentioned above, be able to play with a group of friends, or at least one friend— all story stuff can still be instanced (so you see separate things and can make different choices), but maybe you can have your houses near each other and camp together and just travel around and camp together. It could be fun.
  • Be able to catch Pokemon without battling. I’m not saying you can’t still battle a Pokemon first (or maybe even weaken them without going into the usual turnbased battle), but it’d be nice to also have the option to just toss Pokeballs.
  • Different battling options. Besides the usual turn-based, taking a Pokken/Gen 9 Sync approach, it’d be nice to be able to take control of the Pokemon or like with auto battles, just with their actual attacks, being able to command them more loosely to weaken a Pokemon for catching as well. Not everything has to be the usual turn-based situation. Maybe even with like… Legendaries or taking on Team Rocket/trying to rescue Pokemon, being able to send out multiple Pokemon and/or work with friends/other players could be a lot of fun and add more variety to it all.
  • Multiple Jobs. I’m kind of taking a page out of Fantasy Life here, but with Gen 9 even bringing up the whole “finding your treasure” and giving you different routes to go even if you had to do them all anyway, I think it’d be a nice feature to have. Not to mention that we’ve been shown SO MANY different jobs in Pokemon: Trainer/Champion, Chef (Whether a Cafe or Restaurant), Breeder, Farmer, Professor/Researcher, Photographer/Artist, Ranger… and that’s just naming a few off the top of my head. I think this could add a lot more variety to what you can do in the game while also letting people who maybe prefer the Pokemon side games to get some enjoyment from a main series as well. And yes, I still want a proper Cafe game for Cafe Mix, okay?!
  • Bring in everything. Even if my hope for multiple regions still ends up falling flat, there’s been so many battle gimmicks and interesting characters among other things that I just would like to see everything brought in over the newest battle gimmick of the generation. I’m so tired of new gimmicks when so much has already been implemented at this point. I also don’t want to see Pokemon get left out again. I don’t care if the game needs more time (and honestly, it should, the 2-year schedule for Pokemon has not done it much good IMO), I’m happy to wait as long as it takes, and I hope it would take all the time it needs, so that we can have a game that lets every Pokemon show their personality and more.
  • Let Pokemon do more. In a kind of expansion of the multiple jobs, we see Pokemon constantly help with things in the Anime and with various NPCs in the games. The closest we got was with the HM system (and its respective replacements), but it would be great if Pokemon could like… help at camp or home and even with puzzles and various things out in the world just for the kind of Pokemon they are. Just more aspects to explore the world.

Obviously, I’m not really going into better character customization because I’d like to think it goes without saying, but if not for the love of God please give us better character customization. In general, I just think there is such a premise for this kind of thing and I really hope TPC will consider expanding more into the Open World without it going fully into the Survival-Crafting genre when it doesn’t actually need to.

Fashion Dreamer – Dramatic Fair and stuff since my last post

A lot has happened since my last post, such as the Fantasy Fair being taken down after a handful of hours due to a glitch I can’t really comment on as I did not experience it myself and got through the Fantasy Fair with no problems. The Fair didn’t end up returning until late December, but honestly, it was much easier to complete the second time around as they removed the requirement of filling requests from people and having to have been sent Look-its as well. While the game still requires other players in the sense of liking outfits and things, it’s now fully in your own hands over needing to wait from other players to essentially interact with you.

Of course, there is the slight unfair aspect that those who did finish the event before and thus, could do so again (honestly, I would’ve preferred to NOT have to redo it, but oh well), would receive a second of the one-time-only event patterns. I did use some, but not all. I’m not sure if I will, but honestly, I don’t really like the one-time only patterns. Not even just events, but the frustrating gachapon system as well. It’d be nice if once you earned them, you unlocked them and just would need to use e-points like anything else if you didn’t have a pattern. Or could use keys to permanently unlock them. Just anything over what it currently is.

Going back to Fantasy Fair 2.0, the most exhausting part of it ended up being that I constantly had to delete items for certain tasks that required liking items so I can’t say enough how thrilled I was that this update included an increase from 5,000 to 6,000. This made going through the Dramatic Fair SO MUCH more enjoyable between the requests similar to Fantasy Fair’s redux and not having to pause every 2 seconds to clear out things from my item box.

In all honesty, I didn’t care as much for anything from the Dramatic Fair. As nice as the new dress is, I prefer sleeves to gloves, though, the capelet covers it kind of nice, but it also ends up hiding the necklace which is really pretty. I would say the crown is my favorite thing from this Fair.

There was a nice furniture item too, though, I don’t know if I liked it enough to replace anything and well, the Show room is still a bit too small… The wallpaper and flooring are kind of pretty, but I prefer pinker. I may consider the floor though.

The balcony and pillars of the wallpaper are neat, but I don’t care much for the empty frame walls.

My main goal in general has been still working on leveling up characters. At this point, I have 133/200 at the maximum level needed to have all an NPC’s unlocks. That said, I actually only have 12 patterns and 12 photo poses left– everything else is physical related (IE: Hair color, eye color, skin color, make-up, or lip color) which I don’t plan to change at all since nobody has a decent ponytail. I still want to unlock everything because that’s just how I am, but I’ll be happy when I at least get patterns done.

Getting Orihime’s dress is probably the thing I want most which I should hopefully be able to unlock after running into her 2-3 more times? There may be some other stuff, but that’s the only unlock I’m sure of when it comes to the 12 patterns I’m still missing. I’m sure I may be missing some gachapon patterns too, but the rates are still absolutely atrocious. Recently, I’ve been trying to get the Heart-shaped sunglasses from the FUN Cocoon’s Gachapon machine, but even after 700+ tickets just from when I started going for this (likely well over 1,000 since I started playing as it was the machine I’ve pulled the most from), I’ve yet to get it even once. It’s not even a “super rare”, it’s just a normal rare/not a common and I have no idea why the rates are such garbage.

I hope that’s something that will also be updated in the future. Despite my complaints though, honestly, having that Item Box increase has made the game so much more enjoyable for me again. I’m hoping that since I’m trying to only grab items I really like, I won’t hit it as quickly this time. I do feel bad not liking as often anymore though.

Similarly, I’m so happy we finally have color filters. While I’m still kind of baffled about how they work (some items do overlap in colors and there’s no pink), it is still a huge help over all so I’m thrilled to have it. I hope we’ll continue to see more quality of life improvements. I also will always hope for more inventory space and a bigger Showroom.

Anyway, with that out of the way, it’s time for the “Random Showcase of some of the outfits I’ve received from other Players” section. Thank you to those who sent Lookits!

I’d honestly love to see more ways to use the Lookit Book such as being able to save outfits you make for others to it or being able to make outfits for it without changing your own outfit in the process.

As for the other stuff from the Event, the new borders and poses are cute, but I’m not sure I’ll actually use any. I would like to see a pink version of the gem one in the future though.



I would say the blue gemstone one and both Lunar New Year ones are my favorites of the new frames. There were some new poses as well, but I don’t know if I’ll really use any. The Mwah one’s end pose is kind of cute though.

I actually ended up getting more enjoyment out of trying a megaphone pose I hadn’t used. Look at her cute little smile.

Anyway, with everything done with the Dramatic Fair, this ended up being my current Showroom now:

And as you may have noticed, I switched out my ribbon for the crown (which is honestly more of a tiara).

I’ll likely play more later as I try to continue leveling up characters. If I make any decent progress, I’ll update this post, otherwise, I probably won’t talk much about it until my next update for the game.

Edit: After over 3+ hours of playing to get her to show up just two more times, I finally unlocked Orihime’s dress:

I don’t understand why it isn’t weighted to characters who still have things to unlock. It drives me absolutely nuts. I only have 4 NPC Muses who prefer ACT left to still get unlocks from. Still 47 overall though.

Something else that also drives me nuts:

Pokemon Violet – The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Epilogue

Before I get to talking about the actual story and ignoring that said story had nothing to actually do with Area Zero which makes this a bit weird to consider it an epilogue of sorts to the DLC, I really hate when games do this. Where they literally have everything ready to go, but wait for some random frame of time for people to actually be able to access it through some download or event or something.

I don’t really mind like… Holiday stuff with games like Animal Crossing and other games that take real time into effect– that’s fine, but Pokemon has done things like this before where an area or small scene or short story that goes to a Legendary gets cut out unless you manage to get the special item through an Event or something and it just… really bugs me? Like I love story stuff, having it locked away like that is really annoying. And while thankfully this is just an easy downloadable from the internet for everyone, there’s still the issue of it likely not always being available and eventually, people just won’t be able to access that part of the story.

Similarly, what was the point of holding it off for a month? It’s not like there was an update or anything to add the content– We simply had to wait for them to put the item distribution up. There isn’t anything special about today. There is nothing that ties into the Nightmare Fuel of the DLC plotline that this entails. It feels nearly as random as Ghostwriter’s finale.

That said, I did enjoy the DLC when it wasn’t terrifying me. I really liked everyone hanging out together. More than anything though, it made me wish we could’ve had the friend group the entire DLC over introducing 3 characters we never saw again and putting all the focus on two new ones. I feel like maybe that could’ve integrated better. ALSO, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GAME, LET ME BE AN INTROVERT AND RELATE. STOP FORCING ME TO BE AN EXTROVERT.

With that said, let’s get to talking about the Epilogue more in depth– as always, there will be spoilers so keep that in mind!

For whatever reason, after getting the special Pecha Berry, you need to head over to the outdoor vendor to kick off the DLC. While looking at a mysterious doll, you suddenly get a call from Arven who asks if he can visit you at your house (for some reason??). Upon turning around, the plush has now disappeared.

And that, along with the border literally sliming down on the title screen set the tone of what to expect with the DLC which, at least for me, was unsettling to say the least.

It would’ve been one thing if they like… wanted the DLC for Halloween or a spooky time (though, waiting 10 months for a 90-minute DLC with a few other added things would probably not go well), but nope, here it just is in January for some reason. The DLC tones vary from cute friendship vibes to nightmare fuel (at least for me, I scare easily) and it’s really weird, but it’s made one thing very clear to me: I wish Arven, Penny, and Nemona could have been part of all the DLC. Not at the expense of Carmine and Kieran, but with them. I like how they all interacted and having that for two full DLCs and an epilogue would have been a lot more fun to me than having two new characters hoisted along with three characters that will never show up again.

And I say that as someone who doesn’t really vibe with Nemona either (or more accurately, wishes she could just say no to battling please). It’s just kind of frustrating. Regardless, after the title card, it’s time to head back to our house in Paldea to meet up with Arven and well, now everyone is there because they overheard Arven and I’m still not entirely sure why he wanted to see us in the first place.

Interrupting the room discussion, we suddenly received a letter from Kieran (I’ll just ignore that they used the book template again).

You then head down to eat dessert and discuss everything as you have enough tickets for everyone, so once the day is done, you decide to meet at the school to prepare to head to Kitagami.


With everything all set, we headed off to meet Kieran who seems to be doing better. He at least doesn’t have bags under his eyes anymore.

As we head back to the community center, things get a bit weird when Carmine shows up creepily and then essentially starts doing a chicken dance while yelling Mochi.

You get her back home and learn she has been doing this since Kieran sent you the letter (In general, I have no idea how much time has passed between any moment at this point). Regardless, everyone decides to work together to try and figure out what’s going on.

In the meantime, you head back to the community center and decide to try and watch something together, but Nemona mentions having had some “free mochi samples” shortly before you all decide to try and find the remote to change the TV from its usual tour advertisement.

Alas, despite finding it, we do not actually get to do anything because Nemona has suddenly vanished. Leaving Arven and Penny behind, we head out with Kieran to take a look. Unfortunately, we are stopped by two NPCs who have also been infected with Mochi Madness. And that is more or less how the DLC continues to go.

We notice Nemona running off to the Festival area and while there, run into Kieran’s grandparents. Unfortunately, his grandmother has also been hit with the Mochi Madness and before his grandfather can tell us where Nemona went, he takes mochi from her despite all the creepiness and glowing and gets cursed as well. After battling them, we get a call from Arven and quickly head back to see if they’re okay.

And while they are when we get there, it doesn’t last long because despite noticing the suspicious Pokemon, they still decide to catch the Mochi it throws at them in their mouths?? Meanwhile, we manage to dodge… And well, I guess it hitting Kieran in the head instead of the mouth technically counts as dodging.

We follow after the suspicious Pokemon all the way to the shrine of the Evil Three. After beating Nemona, we can finally challenge it and then catch it which breaks the curse.

Everyone is happy. And then we go back home I guess.

The “Epilogue” also unlocked Kieran’s Dorm Room, lets Kieran and Carmine sometimes show up at the club room, and lets you invite the Paldea crew over to the League Club.

But what gets me is that… this feels like an awful epilogue. No questions were answered. We don’t even go to Area Zero again. The only thing this did was explain the Purple Plush Pokemon AND show Kieran was okay. That was it.

I liked the moments where everyone was hanging out together. Too bad we barely got any of them.

At the moment, my only goal is to try and get all the Pokemon you can get from everyone as I think that’s a cute touch. I hope I have enough BP to do so though because I’m already tired of grinding it. I’d still like to upgrade/get everything for the Club Room, but we’ll see what happens. If I do manage to get all the trade Pokemon, I’ll update this post.

Edit: As promised, an update! I did manage to get all trades done and even unlocked all the Clubroom stuff too. If I do anything else, it’ll just be to try and do Group BPs to unlock the rest of the snacks. Still not sure if I will catch any of them yet though… Maybe if I somehow get like 40 Master Balls.
