Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer – Challenge #15

12 / 1 / 16

So, it’s the first of the month which means a new Happy Home Designer challenge today! I.. do feel the challenges are getting more awkward, but I’m going to do my best to do each one as long as it’s different. Expect two more entries later today as well for some other games (though, you might have an idea of what to expect if you follow my twitter) :)

But yes, for Challenge #15, our theme is… “An attack of the snack.” where our only clue on what they’re going for is a giant Ant trying to eat Tom Nook. There aren’t any big items, so I’m guessing both Killer food and bugs attacking food would work.

I miss when I really felt like I did a good job. Despite trying hard, I just don’t feel like it’s ever coming out right. This is more like some Ants having a Dessert party if anything… But yes, the rating address: 0003-5702-009

Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Changes and Things

11 / 24 / 1611 / 26 / 16

So, most of my hopes with catching up in Animal Crossing have been on hold with Pokemon Moon’s release. While I have had a lot of mixed feelings on the games, I still have a lot I want to finish with Moon before I get back to Animal Crossing. I don’t know entirely when I will finish (maybe sometime in December), but until then, here’s some things that have happened recently.

One of the main things is thanks to so many people letting me catalog stuff, my catalog is once again complete! I don’t know if I will add all the new items into my checklist on here just yet (especially as so many of the new items don’t actually show up or are incredibly glitchy such as the Sanrio Clocks and TVs–I have some in my catalog and not others despite using the items and clearly having picked them up), but I’m happy to be finished with it.

While I haven’t succeeded too much in the moving my date along to catch it back up, I’m currently in October and have been doing various changes along the way to some of the rooms in the house. One of the nice things though is I did get to briefly see my Hydrangeas in bloom:

They’re the Bush that is planted the most around town, but don’t stick around very long.

Going to some of the changes around town, well…

I love the new models in this update. I just wish I could place patterns in rooms like I could in HHD so I could actually place Kapp’n on the River as it just doesn’t look as nice as it could.

I then had the very hard decision between Hot Chocolate or Tea:

I did go with the Tea Cup, but I love Hot Chocolate too.

And I got two of my favorite items from HHD:

The Fancy Tea Set and Cheese :D I love that Cheese plate. That is one nice selection of cheese.

The Decoy Duck also made a return:

And I got the Desert Island Good-luck Charm!

The room that got the biggest update was the trophy room:

I really wish I didn’t have to remove as many items as I did though. The item limit breaks my heart :/

Also, while I’m using the Gold Tea Set for now, I am debating on maybe using the Pink one:

I’d use both, but the item limit is also painful in the Kitchen so bleh.

Finally, thanks to Ruu, I was able to visit Filly!

I ordered a few things I wanted to actually have for rooms versus just catalogging :3 Everything IS translated, so hopefully we may see her in the future… but I wouldn’t be surprised if the items are removed again like what they did in Happy Home Designer….

And sadly, I hate to end on this kind of note, but just incase anything else like this happens…. Ignoring that I don’t go on Club Tortimer much anymore (or the island in general–after all that badge grinding, I’ve long been done with it), I will usually be wearing either my usual pink dress + a Detective Hat OR the Crown I usually wear (for when I forget to switch it or am just planning to check store items and not play anything). If not my pink dress, the only other thing I tend to wear is a Pink Wet Suit.

Similarly, this is my ID and I have all gold badges.

If the IDs don’t match up, that’s a quick clear indicator.

Finally, incase of Dream Suite issues. My town can not be found searching for Pink Sea. If any towns come up by searching Pink Sea, it isn’t mine. This is because when I started playing ACNL, my touchscreen was actually broken and I had to use a weird ‘a’ to name it Pink Sea. Thus, searching normally will not get it to show up (Your best bet is searching for Seamstry if you really want a quick search versus entering the Dream address). I do recommend using my dream address though as the last time things like this happened, Seamstry’s name was copied for a Villager too :/

On Pokemon Moon (and Sun)

11 / 24 / 1611 / 25 / 16

This isn’t really a review and is mostly just going to be me rambling about what I liked and disliked in no particular order. Keep in mind that there will be spoilers for the plot so if you haven’t beaten the Elite 4/seen any of the Postgame, I wouldn’t recommend reading yet unless you don’t care about spoilers.

The newest games are so weird for me because there is a lot of stuff that I really like and a lot of things that are just… really frustrating to me. I think Alola is great and is a really expansive region. It’s nice feeling like I’m exploring so many different things while in the game place. I also like that there aren’t tons of new Pokemon. I know some people are upset that there’s only about 80, but we have over 800 Pokemon at this point. I’d honestly rather see more new regions and/or exploring multiple regions versus more and more new Pokemon. That isn’t to say I don’t like any new Pokemon–I really adore my team in this gen and it was nice to have a starter I liked again as I didn’t care too much for any of the ones in Kalos.

That said, while so much was put into the world of Alola, a lot of the buildings kind of were shafted in a way. I was so excited about the hotels for example, but you can’t do anything in them like you could in Kalos. I also feel this game would’ve been perfect for an upgraded version of a Secret Base or even just doing stuff in your room (instead of just permanent boxes being in your house).

Not to mention a lot of buildings have doors that essentially look painted on. You can’t enter or interact with them (Not even a “locked” dialogue) and they pretty much look fake compared to a door that you can.

The world itself still feels more vibrant with Pokemon cries while walking around and people passing you by (unless you’re talking to someone and then everyone else stops), but there’s just those points in buildings that feel kind of empty.

Going onto exclusives, while I’ve always understood Pokemon exclusives (though, am not particularly fond of them), two exclusives in the game are just… incredibly frustrating to me: The time and Colors. There is no reason Moon is 12 hours ahead. There’s no plot thing. It just is. And it constantly throws me off. The day still changes over at midnight. At noon, it is still the same day despite technically being midnight in the game. It’s just… weird and awkward and frustrating. I boot it up in the morning being all “Oh, I can catch this now” except I can’t because it’s night in my game. It’s just… weird. It’s one thing if I set it that way, but it’s just such an unnecessary game function and I haven’t found any enjoyment in it.

Similarly, color exclusivity is just… stupid. The customization in this game is such a mix because there are things they do great like all the head accessories and the ability to not choose hats (though, an option to wear both the accessories and hats like in X/Y would’ve been neat), but there are actually not that many things to choose from. Most of it is just adding a lot of colors which kind of gets a bit shafted when there’s 5 colors exclusive to each game. While there is a dye system, it’s much more convoluted than it need to be and I’ll get to it more when I talk about Festival Plaza. I also find it ironic that pink is exclusive to Sun when most girls I know actually got Moon.

I was surprised there are no dresses and there’s really only 3 types of tops (Short sleeves, tank, or slightly fancy short sleeves), a few different types of bottoms, and a few different types of shoes. They definitely tried to keep it very Summer-focused, but considering the rain storms and the snowy mountain where the Elite Four is, I would’ve liked to see some “warmer” things too (Quotations are things like tights, short boots, and 3-4 to long sleeves aren’t necessarily all warmer).

I also wish there were some choices with the PokeRider outfits if they had to exist. The novelty of those outfits (and the music for the PokeRides…) ran out to me so fast–especially considering nobody else riding around wears them. It’s kind of like my issue with Mario Kart where you have all the characters in their outfits but “Oops safety for you”and suddenly your Mii is in an ugly helmet and poofy suit rather than getting to wear something like the other characters.

This is especially ridiculous for Machamp. And even Lapras is pretty silly considering you have probably surfed on one for ages. And in X/Y, the attire wasn’t even needed when riding Pokemon. It’s just a bit of a weird choice and I’d rather see my character than wonder how she even fit her hair in the helmet and still have it look that way.

SPEAKING OF HAIR…. how is there no ponytail. This is a tropical region. Why can we not use a ponytail??

LILLIE GETS A PONYTAIL SO WHY IS IT THAT THE ONLY NON-SHORT UPSTYLE IS A PAIR OF PIGTAILS THAT IS ONLY AFTER YOU BEAT THE ELITE FOUR.

Speaking of which, end-game customization is dumb. Most people want to wear what they like for most of the game–not just the bit of post-game after.

But yes, I would’ve loved to put the hair I’m using in a ponytail :( It’d have been so cute… And I adored my ponytail from X/Y–with the bang options in this game, it would’ve been perfect. It’s just… so disappointing. There’s varied hairstyles, but mostly all down with the few upstyles just very short besides the pigtails.

One of the things that is actually killing me this game though is working on my Pokedex which is just… incredibly odd for me. I’ve gotten myself a living dex since I played Pokemon Blue which was my first Pokemon game. I used the Gameboy Printer and printed out my certificates. It was such a big deal to me. This is the first generation where I don’t have the motivation to do it and it’s really baffling to me. Thinking about it, I realized this comes down to two things–the removal of DexNav (which, they brought Pokemon Amie back in some way, I do feel DexNav could’ve returned even better) and just how overly complicated getting Pokemon gets in this game.

DexNav was so perfect for people like me who enjoyed catching things before moving on. But this game introduces so many different ways to really change up a Pokemon’s habitat that it just becomes frustrating–especially without that. Some Pokemon will ONLY show up in certain piles of grass on a route. Some will only be available through an SoS call which is one of the most frustrating features in the game and should have stayed exclusive to Totem Pokemon. Nearly every Pokemon being able to do it just makes the Totem Pokemon less interesting. And then making it so some SoS Pokemon will only be in certain weather too? It just isn’t fun. It’s an extra grind and when I find a shiny before I find the evolution of a Pokemon….

That’s just even more ridiculous.

Part of me still wants to try and work on my Pokedex, but I just feel so discouraged over it and don’t have the motivation despite spending hours writing up a list of what I need. Something about how it all works in this game is just making me not enjoy it. New elements are fun, but these changes just aren’t.

Festival Plaza is where I’ve been spending a lot of time, but I’ve hit a point where I just need so much FP (Festival Points) and the grinding gets tiring. Type Matchups is easily the best Mission to do, especially if lots of others are on, but it’s still something that just gets very repetitive. One of the nice things about Join Avenue was that you could actually purchase things with PokeDollars. I also feel like you were asked and requested for things more often than in the Festival Plaza.

I’ve managed to get most of what I wanted already so I have PokeDollars sitting here now with nothing to really do with them. I wish I could exchange them for more Festival Points so I could get some of the higher ranked buildings and buy more things. I mentioned the dye option before so more or less, there’s two ways you can get the exclusive colors–by ordering them from people or by using berries with the highest ranking Dye Shop (5 Stars). Ignoring how silly it is that you can’t have the normal color even if you have that Team’s shop at the highest rank (A 5 Star Team Pink will have Light, Pastel, and Dark Pink, but not the regular Pink), it’s just once again making things more complicated. At the moment, I have two Teams in my plaza–both Red and Pink so I could get the most pink shades. This means I have no Fortune Teller booth because you don’t really have much booth room.

Ordering would be more convenient if you could pick what you wanted, but not only do you just need to hope it’s the one item they mention that day, there is no guarantee they will let you order it.

The games are pretty and the cutscenes are lovely and the story is super interesting (even if it got dark at times and I genuinely thought they were going to kill someone) and I want to know so much more about it and the stuff that happened before you moved to Alola (You at least get some backstory on Lillie and Gladion’s Dad which gives some idea of what caused it, but there is still so much I want to know–maybe even find their dad. Heck, going to Kanto to help them would’ve been cool too), but with my favorite aspects of Pokemon games feeling so frustrating, I’m having a hard time to still have fun with it.

To end on a more positive note though, I love this flute:

I want this flute in real life. (And for the record, yes, I do know how to play the flute as well as the Piano)

Some other things I really do adore:
-Thank god for no HMs. I’d love to see in future games that your own Pokemon could be registered as a PokeRide thing–just a quick button to surf/fly on whoever even if they are in a Box. Especially if Poke Pelago is back by then.
-I LOVE TRIALS SO MUCH. I have mixed feelings on the totem battles (due to lag issues and just not a fan of battling), but I love so many different ways to essentially earn a badge. I would love to see more things like this return where you do puzzles and other challenges versus just battling.
-The stamp book is adorable.

Disney Magical World 2 – Christmas is here!

11 / 11 / 16

I mean, technically it’s actually a month and a half away, but despite that Disney Magical World 2 now has up their Christmas Decorations!

Now, if you’re new here, you may not realize something very important: I love Christmas. A lot of people are more about Halloween. I do not care much about Halloween. Christmas is my thing.

I love cute fancy Christmas dresses, baking fresh cookies, decorating the tree, drinking a warm drink (Hot Chocolate, Apple Cider, Tea…) in front of a fireplace. Ignoring that I do not currently have a fireplace in my home (which is a crime and is a requirement when we eventually have the funds to get our own place) and I can not keep a Christmas tree up 24/7 (which I am totally doing once I can), Christmas is just the season that keeps me feeling warm and fuzzy inside. I love the snow, I love singing Christmas songs, I love looking at the Christmas lights. Christmas is just an incredibly important time of year for me so even if DMW2 has it pretty early, seeing all the decorations up is super exciting.

Between ACNL and Pokemon Moon (ONE WEEK TO GO!), I’m a bit nervous about managing to keep up with it to get enough medals and catch everything. I’m going to do my best though. At the very least, I got to make all the new dishes:

And even threw a Christmas Party (Now if only it featured one of my favorite Disney Christmas songs):

I’ll be doing my best to earn everything else too :D

Miitomo’s Update & ACNL Town Anniversary Event

11 / 10 / 16

So, to my surprise, the big Miitomo update came out today. I wasn’t expecting it out until December, but honestly, this was such a good thing to receive as it’s helped me really clear my mind tonight which I needed. For those unaware of the update, it is a huge update that is required to even play and adds tons of new features such as:
-The ability to send private messages to friends
-The ability to customize the wallpaper and flooring of your room along with adding posters.
-A new Style thingy where you can see various people’s outfits that you can favorite and even purchase items from (Except for Miitomo Drop/special event ones)

And it’s just a really good update. There are also login bonuses for the first week of the update along with various Collaboration Miitomo Drops making a return and special Wallpaper and Flooring you can get right now just for playing and trying the new features.

That said, I do have some issues with it. Such as the fact that wallpapers and flooring change daily and are only through Miitomo Drop. I’ve already explained in the past how the daily feature sucks without the incentive of still being able to get things later (due to it becoming part of your shop’s inventory) like Tomodachi Life and making Interior Design both exclusive to the Daily system AND a Miitomo Drop is pretty frustrating. While it’s only 4 different ones per drop, it’s still pretty frustrating and I used up about half of my saved up tickets just to get the flooring and wallpaper I wanted most (And still haven’t managed to get the other flooring and wallpaper I really wanted). Despite it seeming like you can only use coins from the banner, you can use tickets for it as well.

One of the nice new additions with Miitomo Drop is you can now immediately pick Candy as an option if you win an item you don’t want rather than it requiring you to have at least one color of the item before you can choose candy.

Another odd and somewhat frustrating choice is that all rooms are now reset to a default green wallpaper and flooring. I think either letting people pick a simple plain color for wallpaper and flooring and/or letting people keep what they had before would’ve been a lot nicer. Many people did like that they had and having to re-earn it really stinks. Similarly, while each personality type had a bit of a unique furniture selection before, now everyone has the exact same things–some plants, a desk, a bookshelf, and some pillows. They don’t do anything. You can’t customize them in any way (there is no furniture at all–hopefully that might change in the future)… The only customization besides the wallpaper and flooring comes in the form of posters. You receive one poster slot free which lets you put a poster in 1 or 8 different areas of the room.
miitomoupdate2
You can use an existing Miifoto, make a Miifoto just for the poster on the spot, or use a photo saved on your device. You can even use transparent pictures.

Unfortunately, while the first poster slot is free, every other spot costs 99 cents to unlock so it’s about $7 to unlock all 8. While I was happy with one or two at first, I ended up eventually unlocking them all once I realized that they show up behind the comments on your questions which just makes it look super pretty:
miitomoupdate

Some transparent poster examples:

I did have issues with some posters though, such as this Miifoto which came out super Saturated.
miitomoupdate5
It ended up looking fine in a different position though:
miitomoupdate6

And there was no issue with a different picture I put up in its old place:
miitomoupdate7

Moving on, while I don’t believe this is new, I ended up noticing there is actually a Tuck in or out outfit so yay for more outfit combos:
miitomoupdate9 miitomoupdate8

Finally, heading over to New Leaf, as most of you may know, I’ve been trying to get my date back to normal. It’s been going pretty poorly and I only finally hit June today… of 2015 still. I’ve gotten about 2 months along so far and hopefully I can start picking the pace up a bit. Regardless, I ended up hitting the anniversary of my town (even if it is technically a year behind) and a new Special Event triggered. It’s really cute, though, I had gotten my hopes up for all 10 of my Villagers showing up due to Isabelle’s dialogue when it wasn’t even close to that… Not to mention a random special villager seems to show up as well (besides Isabelle :P) which also caught me off-guard. Despite those issues, it’s genuinely a very cute event:

And the item you get is absolutely adorable:

I’m looking forward to see if there are any differences when I end up triggering it again as I make my way to November 2016.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Redecorating and having fun~

11 / 7 / 1611 / 7 / 16

Right now, besides getting items for my catalog, I’ve been doing various adjustments to all many of the rooms on each of my villagers. Most are receiving very small changes:

But a few have gotten some bigger changes thanks to the lovely Sanrio items someone was nice enough to give me!:

The Sanrio items are ADORABLE and I really love a lot of them. The outfits are so cute too:

I definitely want to find more places to put them, but I’m especially happy with Emi’s sky room. I feel like a lot of people missed the theme with that one a bit and I feel it’s a lot more apparent now. I think I’m going to add the Kiki and Lala Clock to the room too. I also think the My Melody Dress is perfect for Seamstry and looks way better than the Maid Dress did.

I’ve also updated another museum room:

Besides that, I have been working on more of the minigame playing. I’ve managed to get two items from Desert Island Escape so far and even several items from Puzzle League after finally finishing it:

On a different note, there’s just so many new small charming things in the game, like bird feeding:

It’s so so so cute. Plus the dancing at the Bonfire:

And Harvey’s set-up in the rain:

It’s just so much fun to discover new little things again.

I have been trying to scan in more Amiibo occasionally too. The monster hunter stuff seems especially popular:

And a friend scanned in Timmy & Tommy:

Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Too much to do ;~;

11 / 4 / 1611 / 7 / 16

So, I’ve been mostly posting on my main AC blog for update related posts and have already posted two entries, but after a poll on Twitter it seems crossposting them is the most popular option so I will be doing so starting with this one!

First up, I took some time to try the new puzzle league mode.

I… really don’t like Puzzle League. Unfortunately, there are items attached to it and I kind of really want to beat the story mode. Of the items, I want the Nintendo 3DS ones (The Station and Display), the Flower Fairy Boots, and the Flower Fairy Wand the most. I wouldn’t mind the Flower Fairy dress and wig too though.

I can’t even beat the second stage and my score for the first minigame in Puzzle League is terrible.

Essentially, to get all the items you need to finish story mode, get a lot of combos, and get fairly high scores in each of the minigames (You can find more details Here) and I just am failing miserably at it. I don’t even consider games like these puzzle games. Puzzle games to me are like… Professor Layton–not this :(

Island Escape also apparently has items tied to it–11 of them (though, nobody has figured out what. Similarly, there are apparently about 775 new items in the game now. I’m stressing, for the record). I’ll probably be putting a lot of time into this because at least I’m not completely awful at it.

In the meantime, I’ve moved my Catalog list over here as it’s just quicker to update and then it’s right on the homepage. But yes, going over to other things done…

I took a stop to Nintendo’s New Dream Village which you can visit at 0000-000F-4241. It was so nice to see so many of the new items and villagers so just a few of the (many) photos I took:

I also love how Wisp takes place of characters when they are camping:

As you can probably tell, I brought Celeste in for her lovely bow:

Finally, there are now anniversary gifts–I love how nice the model tree looks in my Model room:

I look forward to when I get there as I [slowly] fix my date.

Help me get/Catalog some items! (Animal Crossing: New Leaf)

11 / 2 / 1611 / 2 / 16

So, as already mentioned on my New Leaf blog, the update hit today! I’m both excited and stressed beyond reason, but I’m still enjoying myself.

At the moment, I’ll be honest and say I’m not sure how often I will post much about it. I also don’t know if I will just put them in my New Leaf blog, post them here, or even post to both (if anyone has a preference, let me know). There’s about 2-3 things I can think of posting, but other than that, I don’t expect to make tons of updates.

Regardless, there’s a lot of new items–many from Happy Home Designer and some that are in Fortune Cookies and to put it bluntly, I am looking to catalog everything I can.

I do not currently have a full list of all the items (I don’t want to just list Happy Home Designer exclusive ones as there’s no guarantee they will all be), but just from what I saw, items I know I will actually want to keep:
Labrador
Dachshund
Chihuahua
Wii U

3DS
Wendell’s Painting
The Zelda Treasure Chest
The Fancy Tea Set
Super Sea Snail (possibly two)
Cuckoo (Possibly 2)
Cupcake
Celeste’s Bow

All help is appreciated <3 I don't really have any items to offer, but I have more bells than I know what to do with. If anyone is interested in helping, just let me know <3 Thank you.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer – Challenge 14!

11 / 1 / 16

So, it’s the first of the month which means new Happy Home Challenge! It seems once again we will be getting at least one old item so we’ll see how this goes. Personally, I’ll probably TRY to keep doing them until the themes I’ve done before rotate back in with no new items.

Theme: A bit of old, a bit of new.

Rating Address: 0393-5762-085

Sadly, looks like no new items. And I still hate how we’re forced to use both items inside X__x I still mostly managed to get what I hoped for based on the theme at least.

On a brighter note, the Animal Crossing direct is tomorrow at 10AM EST!! I can’t wait. I’m going to do my best to play more Happy Home Designer up to the New Leaf update (I’d say more New Leaf, but I genuinely have nothing left to do unless you want to see me water my flowers).

Disney Magical World 2 – All 130 Stickers complete.

10 / 27 / 1610 / 27 / 16

So, I finally managed to get all of the Bonus Stickers. They went fast for the most part as a lot I hit immediately or knew what to do to quickly get them. I just wish the reward was better I guess? Besides the crowns/gift boxes, you just get this message in the end:

And I liked being able to have a special photo and stuff like the last game did (Credits were at like 77 Stickers or something) versus a message I’ll probably never see again. It’s a very cute message though.

Speaking of messages I’ll never see again, upon maxing my Cafe and talking to my manager, I got this:

Unfortunately, I hadn’t expected her to go into a big speech after hitting Level 30 for my Cafe. I had finished recording and was checking with her to put up new dishes before I went to bed so I was hitting A thinking it was the same dialogue and NOPE. I’ll be kicking myself for a while :(

Moving onto some happier things, I’ve been working hard on my collections. For the most part, it seems what items I have left are Vendor/Scrooge’s Shop exclusive OR are from other holidays/events. There are some that come from quests though–I need to hope that Sally will give me the quest for the Pumpkin King Portrait soon. I wish those were set to always come up first until you got them. So for now, after making what I can, I decided to work on throwing parties for all the frames:

And thus, lots of dreams:

I also started working on finishing all the episodes. I still had Castleton’s, Wonderland’s, and Atlantica’s to go.

It’s nice having them done, honestly. Even if I have to keep grinding some of them…

And I finished with my permanent cafe layouts, house, and room stuff for now :) As long as I don’t end up liking any seasonal stuff more–you can find those in my game log page!

Finally, I did manage to make all the dishes I have though so I’m ready for the future seasonal ones:

And well, it gets long so…
