Pokemon GO – Update 2

With the Heat Wave and Air Advisory still in place, we’re mostly aiming for early morning and night explorations as it’s just too hot to really go during the afternoon.

On Tuesday, while going out for lunch, we decided to try and get some Pokemon though. Unfortunately, we only found a Weedle for new Pokemon… We did pass the Pokestop again though and I got 3 more Pokeballs and another egg. Unfortunately, shortly after we ate the login servers went down and have been down since :/ While Google services seem to be back up, those using the Pokemon Trainer Club like me are just endlessly waiting…

After about 40 hours of downtime, the servers for the Pokemon Trainer Club finally came back. Upon logging back in, I was greeted by a Squirtle! And thus, we decided to try and catch lots of Pokemon today. We actually had to run out grocery shopping and while we missed several PokeStops & Pokemon due to the car moving so fast, we still got a lot as well, including:

Not to mention extras of many Pokemon. It was nice to be surrounded by so many Pokemon too:

My husband did get a Bellsprout and Mankey though which sadly never popped up for me (and way more Eevee ;~;)… He even evolved one of his Eevee into a Jolteon :(

And while we did miss some Pokestops, we also stopped by several and I got a total of 10 Pokeballs, 1 Revive, and 1 Egg.

I’m level 6 now… but still not sure what team I will join just yet. After talking about it more (and hitting level 7), we finally went with the Blue Team–Team Mystic…specifically because Articuno:

I just hope it doesn’t force color selection for clothes and that there will be more clothing in general. I really want a new outfit (in pink). After that, we tried out an incense:

Unfortunately, it went pretty bad :/ I only had 6 Pokemon show up (one of which got away) and of those 6, only 2 were new (A Krabby and a Dodrio)–I had so many Doduo though, so I would have gotten a Dodrio myself soon enough. I did catch a Magikarp shortly after it ended however.

I also hatched my first egg! And it gave me a Bellsprout :D

So now I’m only missing two Pokemon that my husband has… I still have two eggs to hatch. And I evolved my first Pokemon–a Pidgey up to a Pidgeot:

If things go well, I’m hoping we can go back out later to head towards the park and the nearby Pokestop, but we will have to see… One Pokestop even had a Lure for a while, but it’s already ended :( It was nice to see someone set up one close by here though…

Edit: So, we did head back out and towards the park. Besides a Pokestop, there is also a gym at the statue (which we have seen switch between all team colors multiple times). We managed to get a few new Pokemon–I ended up getting a Tangela, Kingler, and Poliwhirl. A lure was even used at one point (which is how I got my Tangela):

We can’t really figure out the mechanics of how the battles work just yet. Hopefully we get better Pokemon soon too.

Regardless, it turned from Yellow to Red not long after we left. I hope Blue gets it soon. On our way out, we actually were stopped by some Red Team members who told us to “get out” (Jokingly, I believe) and that the statue was theirs. We’re still pretty behind compared to people with Google Accounts so hopefully we can catch up and maybe try taking over a gym… mostly just because I want coins though as I’d be fine ignoring gyms altogether. I only have 15 Pokeballs left so I definitely want to build my count up…

Edit 2: Managed to get an Ekans while at home :D And hatched a Koffing from one of my eggs!

Edit 3: Tried another incense. Only got 6 again :/ But did manage to get a Scyther so got at least one Pokemon.

Edit 4: Another egg hatched!! Got another Meowth.

Pokemon GO is out!

So, Pokemon GO is finally out in the US! It came out nearly 24 hours ago for Japan, Australia, and New Zealand and many have been waiting since. I’m not entirely sure what the delay was (At most, I figured it may be they wanted to wait until morning here as it released in the morning there–instead, it’s late evening for a lot of the country and most can’t even play now…), but I’m happy it’s at least finally here! My character:

Besides picking Charmander as my starter, I also caught a Doduo! While I have no plans to record the game (it uses up enough battery–don’t need to help it), I am hoping to do daily or weekly updates about Pokemon I’ve caught until I’ve caught all Pokemon currently available. A page will be up soon to keep track of my progress :D

But yes, I hope you look forward to more updates! If we do end up going out tonight despite it being 9:30PM, I’ll edit this with any other Pokemon we may catch.

We’re pretty lucky as there is a PokeStop RIGHT around the corner with another just a couple of blocks away so at least we’ll be able to get some stuff everyday! :)

Edit: So, as promised… we did go out for a little bit towards the first PokeStop! I managed to get 4 Pokeballs and an egg from it! I can’t wait to see what it hatches into.

I also caught a Horsea! :) While I don’t expect to catch anything else tonight, I’m looking forward to walking more tomorrow!

Edit 2: While taking care of some things before bed, a Pinsir showed up! Another Pokemon caught :D

The Final Splatfest & Miitomo + Art Academy Collaborations

So, recently (and largely hinted at the end of the last Splatfest for this theme) the final Splatfest was announced–Callie vs Marie, a topic that has been pretty popular since the game came out.

While there are some people who do not care for either or may like both for different reasons (such as myself), there’s always been quite a fanbase for each. In general, I feel like I see more Marie fans online, but more Callie fans actually in the game. I’m not sure who will win (as it is, the formula has been a bit broken ever since wins were turned to 6x–due to the fact that the more popular team will cancel their wins out due to often getting same team matches, the less popular team will have more chances to actually contribute to their wins…), but I expect there to be a lot of people talking about it either way.

In honor of the final Splatfest, Splatoon is doing another collaboration with Miitomo!

For one, you can purchase the Splatfest shirts (so while you can’t keep them ingame, you can get them forever on Miitomo!) for 2,000 Coins each.

Whichever Squid Sister wins, you will receive a free respective pin:

If you want both or wanted the pin of the Squid Sister that lost, don’t worry! Both will available in the Miitomo store afterwards.

All the old Splatoon Miitomo items are back in their respective places (The Female and Male Inklings in their Miitomo Drops, the Squid Pins in the Shop, and the Ink Tanks in the MyNintendo Rewards) until the end of July 14th while the Callie and Marie shirts will be around until July 25th. As for the pins, they will be available to get from your gift box July 24th until August 1st–the ones for sale will be available to buy until the 31st of July.

Of course, this isn’t the only collaboration happening. The Miiverse Art Academy Community is holding a special event for people to post up their Splatfest Memories.

There isn’t any special prize, but if you like drawing and have Art Academy, why not participate?

As for me, this is my one big Splatfest memory before my hopes and dreams died and I gave up playing Splatoon:

I still love the original dogs and am sad they changed them. And even if I don’t see myself ever getting back into Splatoon, I still really like the inklings and adore Apheros‘ drawing of Inkling!Me.

How do you feel that Splatfests are ending? I personally am surprised as I didn’t think it’d happen until a sequel came out. That said, part of me wonders if one could be announced at the end of their Splatfest after they announce the winner, but we will see.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer – July’s Challenge~

With 391 total homes I can make, one thing I really have wanted to do is focus on HHD more before things get a bit busier (with Pokemon GO likely to come out this month and Style Savvy 3 finally coming out next month)–while it doesn’t look like I will finish with Happy Home Designer before then, I’ll still be bringing content until I do :)

But yes, onto July’s Challenge today! Hopefully we will have more houses soon.

E3 2016 – Nintendo’s Treehouse & Other Game things thoughts

So, before Nintendo even got to their Treehouse Live stuff on the 14th, last week they actually started a Miitomo campaign for Zelda as I mentioned in my last entry:

The shirt shown in the above image was added to a Retweet reward for hitting 40,000 and we managed to get about 44K total before the time ended. There was even several special MyNintendo Missions for more coins which is good as some of the items will be available on MyNintendo.

E3 2016 Press Conferences Thoughts Summary~

While I normally do posts per day or even per press conference, I didn’t find myself having too much to say this year so I’m using this post for everything :) If I don’t list a press conference, I just didn’t have anything to say! I also want to just say while I know (and watched) Square Enix’s press conference last week, it falls into the not really have anything to say about it so that is why it isn’t included below. Meanwhile, you can find my thoughts on the latest Harvest Moon on my Tumblr.

Also, for those who asked me why I didn’t mention the shirt update to the Miitomo Zelda Campaign, I’ll be talking about it once it’s actually started along with Nintendo’s Treehouse Live stuff in a future entry. Since they aren’t doing a press conference, it doesn’t make too much sense to bring them up here so expect stuff on them in a couple of days!

But yes, while we weren’t able to afford transportation this year for E3, I still am making sure to watch all the conferences so lets get to it :)

The pause right now and recent game things

A lot of people have been expecting Happy Home Designer stuff right away (and a few demanding in various places :/) and while I really do plan to get to it and it will be the next game I fully put time in, right now I’m just not up to it. We’re currently having issues with the central air system in the house (paired with the fact that pollen counts are high) which means I’m not really sleeping well. I really don’t like making anything I’m not proud of and since Happy Home Designer is a fairly creative-based game, I don’t really trust myself in that category when I am having trouble staying awake lately. Most of the final badge grinding was done just through sheer determination as my energy was already dragged down. HHD isn’t the only thing I’ve had to put on hold right now either. I’ve been looking forward to reading some things and baking cookies and just lack the energy to really do it. I’m hoping I can maybe finally bake those chocolate chip cookies and snickerdoodles sometime this week, but we will need to see. (Plus, we also have a new puppy so… Her name ended up being Brownie).

Going into game stuff, when I’m not feeling too great, my general go-to games are either games I can play with someone else (usually my husband) or games where I don’t need to overthink anything. It helps me still feel productive as I genuinely get really frustrated if all I do is lay down. Taking it easy is hard for me :P

While in this kind of bleh period, an acquaintance was posting pictures of a game with cute horses and I’ve actually been really wanting to play an MMO for quite some time, so I looked it up and decided to try it out which brings me to the first thing I’ll be talking about in this entry–Star Stable Online. My character and my horse, Snowbelle:

Now, I was mostly expecting a cute horse game (like some of the Barbie horse games), but as an MMO with quests. Instead, I got a game that is a lot more complicated than I expected with reputation systems, a big overarching plot (that gets fairly dark honestly), and a giant open world.

The game is only free up to level 5, which sounds like it isn’t a lot, but leveling is actually pretty slow and you can see A LOT in that time. As for the pay price, it’s $8.50 a month, $21 for 3 months, $35 for 6 months, or $75 for lifetime. The game has two currencies–one paid currency (Star Coins) and one normal. Star Coins can be bought or you get 100 free every week if you are a Star Member/have an ongoing membership. If you want to buy them, 100 star coins is 5.49 and it goes up from there.

I’m not going to go into all the prices, but I will admit the currency stuff is one of the issues I have with the game. All horses and many items are Star Coins only so it can be a while to save up from weekly ones unless you want to pay and the prices to actually buy them feel overpriced compared to the price for the memberships.

You can also only hold up to 10,000 of the normal currency at a time and most items get pretty pricey and you can only really afford one or two at a time. Selling item rewards and quests are the only ways to earn money (and there are so many repeatable quests…), but you only get 10% of an item’s worth when selling it which kind of stinks.

I also wish your horse would level up with you. I’m not too fond of the races (One mistake can completely cost you and make it so you won’t reach the next marker before time runs out) and those being the only way to level your horse (besides paying with Star Coins) is a bit disheartening.

The game is still pretty interesting though and I am enjoying checking in on it despite some things bothering me (or creeping me out) about it. For now, here’s some other pictures I’ve taken in the game:

Moving onto the next game, if you follow my twitter and/or youtube, you will know I played and recently beat Travel Adventures with Hello Kitty which I genuinely wish I enjoyed more. I’d really love another game similar to Madeline’s European Adventure–just fully expanded with more countries and I had high hopes for it. On a brighter note, I had lots of fun playing around with the Chanrio Maker for the video layout. I think she came out really cute:

Besides those games, my husband has been enjoying Overwatch a lot and been bringing me into playing with him. The only character I’m even somewhat decent with is Mercy, but I like healing so… I just wish she had a skin I liked. There isn’t a nice pink one (the closest is the Imp skin which I’d rather not use) and I really just wish that every character (especially Mercy and D.VA) had skins is Mei’s Snow Plum color scheme because it is amazing and easily my favorite skin. Unfortunately, I am not very good with Mei.

When he isn’t having me play Overwatch with him, he’s having me play PAYDAY 2 with him. While it’s not really my favorite game (I generally prefer playing good guys), it can still be kind of fun, but also really nervewracking and can get overwhelming very very very fast. I wish you can trade/give eachother masks and colors and things because I get so many items I never will use/want and it sucks to be stuck with them. So many things are achievement locked too unfortunately. Right now, I’m using a tiara:

I’m level 99 now so I’ll be max level next… I don’t expect to ever bother with Infamy levels at the moment due to the fact that I don’t want to lose all my skills and I don’t care for any of the items you earn from it either.

Moving onto some exciting things–E3 is next week! While I’ve chose not to go this year for multiple reasons, I am still really looking forward to it. Of course, we already have some pre-E3 hype such as the Pokemon Sun & Moon news earlier this month (of the news, I am most excited about the QR things) and the confirmation that the next Story of Seasons game is being translated:

(though, we won’t be getting it until 2017 unfortunately). I’m excited for it, but I’m trying to be cautiously optimistic as I found Story of Seasons super disappointing and frustrating and I just… while I am excited for it (beyond not being particularly interested in any of the bachelors thus far), I don’t know if I will get it if I see a repeat of issues I had with Story of Seasons as it’s one of the games I really just… have no motivation to finish and kind of feel like it was a waste to get it. Maybe I’ll pick it up again one day, but right now…

Regardless, Nintendo announced more of their E3 plans and while I am disappointed there will be no special direct or video for announcements, I do enjoy Treehouse Live… but I enjoy it solely for gameplay–not for news being mixed in and well, now it’s literally both. They’ve already started some of their E3 plans with the latest Miitomo retweet campaign:

We’ve already hit the 20,000 for both so I’m pretty excited to see what items we may get. While they showed them all for Splatoon, they only show the two wigs which makes me super curious what the items may be. Maybe they will be themed after whatever they show at E3? We won’t start getting any of the items until their Treehouse Live stuff has started afterall. The items will be available the same way as the Splatoon ones were–the items from the retweet campaign, items in Miitomo Drop, items in the Miitomo Shop, and items in My Nintendo. I hope I will have enough reward points for the My Nintendo items, but I’ve been running low recently…

Besides all the cool Zelda stuff, Pokemon Sun and Moon gameplay will also be showed on the first day of Treehouse Live along with Pokemon GO having a special Q&A on Day 2. I’m not too interested in the other stuff they plan to show besides Pokemon and Zelda (and well, I’m at least intrigued by Dragon Quest VII).

I can’t believe E3 is next week. I’m really excited to watch all the press conferences. As always, I’ll mostly keep my thoughts on Twitter unless I find I have a lot to say.

Heading over to non-video game related things, I’ve also been putting time into updates for other sites of mine. Besides continuing to update my Mega Audino collection site, I also have been making sure Star Collector has been being kept up to date. Updates aren’t too often right now (at least one a month, but rare more than 2-3 a month), but once the game is fully going, I’m hoping it will be more helpful.

I also have been poking my head in on Flight Rising a bit again due to it celebrating its 3 Year Anniversary and the new color update. While I adore my dragons, I really hate how expensive lair expansions are and everything about the food system (along with just finding it hard to earn money on the site). Regardless, I managed to expand my lair a bit recently and this is one of my most recent dragons I have gotten:

I still have a lot I want to get, so maybe one day.

But yes, that’s it for now. Hopefully activity should increase either during or after E3 :)

Short version: Updates are kind of slow right now due to various reasons, constantly bringing it up/demanding certain things will not change that, they will continue soon, but I am doing other stuff even if it isn’t clear from my blog/youtube.

Yay! With that, the game is finally finished for me. Catalog complete, town done, all gold badges… Everything is finished. I might still play time to time to play with friends and/or do Dream Suite stuff, but for now, I can finally relax :) And also get back to Happy Home Designer!
